2 cd key's, one always invalid when other is on same server?

Thanks for reading my thread. I am running a cable modem and router for mine and my sons PC's. I had to reformat my PC... did all the usual things and reinstalled BF2 w/103 patch. We have two legal games with seperate CD keys. Now we can't connect to the same server at the same time. Whoever tries to join second on the same server gets a "CD key invalid". We can both play different servers at the same time just fine.

Is there any way to check the CD keys of the games installed? I don't think I used his disks by mistake but ....

Any help appreciated... I miss him covering my back...

EDITED: After perusing the thread, this apparently no longer works for 1.03. Why is it still a sticky? Sorry senes.

        Never heard of this one.

Maybe you should set up port triggering?

I have 2 PCs both with their own install of BF2 and unique CD key and I can play on the same server with both PCs.

I never had to do anything specific...it just sorta works.

Thanks for the quick repiles... yes Talus, before my reformat we both played on the same server with the very same setup I have now. I am quite certain now I didn't use my son's key by mistake.

Can it be something about the server seeing the same IP address twice?

Shouldn't be...there are lots of people coming from the same WAN IP who are on a LAN.

So a reformat is what caused this?

Make sure all firewalls are disabled including Windows XP firewall.

Otherwise, you can try port triggering:

Overview of router port triggering compared to port forwarding. Port Triggering is like port forwarding with an on/off switch for the ports that have been forwarded.

sounds like you may have used the same key which would be easy to do if the 2 manuals got mixed up
