Hey there guys

Firstly just want to say a BIg Hi to you all. Been playing around with sao many MMO's at that I had forgotten about BF2 after playing the demo back before release. Got it ordered now and looking forward to much fun ahead.

In the meantime I'll be scouring the forums for any nice wee nuggets to get me started. Oh one last question, what is the general populace like on the Offficial Servers and do they have decent admin there to deal with the idiot percentile?

Stay away from the official servers. They can make you ill. Find 32 player clan servers, they tend to have better teamplay-enhancing rules, and admins who do their job. But sadly, the idiot percentile, as you put it, is something you're gonna have to deal with at some point.

Tip: Play in single player for a bit to get used to using the different kits/weapons/vehicles before venturing into the on-line fray. Don't get too comfy killin bots tho. You can develop some bad habbits if you start to count on how stupid the bots are.
Real people are much more stupid, but in way more creative ways!

Welcome to the forums. Yes, try and play in SP mode first. I would recommend maybe starting game of your own and play by yourself (seriously), you need to learn to fly before getting in a public server. The SP mode doesn't have any helis or jets. Unless you play with a Coop mod.

You can also join some empty 32 player servers with a good ping. There is a ton out there.

As far as public servers go. You will eventually run into the typical immature player and you will get frustrated. Just ignore and move on is all I can say.

Not so true that, I find that EA UK Official #29 is a great server nice people and good gameplay where as clan servers you always get the power hungry admin who bans for killing them or taking a clan members Jet.

Yeah, I avoid the official EA servers like the plague. There is never anybody actually admining on them.

I recommend using The All-Seeing Eye as a server browser because it has great filters, allows you to manually add servers if somebody recommends on to you, and it tells you on which servers your friends are playing without them having to install any software on their end.

Keep Dynamic Lighting and Dynamic Shadows turned down to at least Medium settings.

Do not run other applications in the background while playing BF2.

Defrag your hard drive after your first BF2 session.
