What if they patched that only jet pilot can have Parachutes?

What if in the next patch they only allowed people exiting jets to use parachutes?

No more parachuting from the top of a building, from a helicopter, from a crane, from anywhere except if you were previously in a jet.

Would this negatively impact your game? Or would this be a positive change?

This has been brought up many times in the 'Realism' type of threads. Dice wanted to make BF:2 fun. So they made the parachutes available to every class. If you want realism then you need to play the realism mods.

why would they do that for,it would make no sense to give only pilots chutes and not other classes

I won't even bother quoting these people, but if you read the 3 responses immediately above, you'll find that:

Only pilots having chutes is ridiculous.

Buildings need a safe way to jump off of.

It would be impossible to get around.

Although I'm an admmitted realism nut, without even justifying it as lack of realism, I can easily say that the ability of a player to be so incredibly manuverable, with so little skill required, makes gameplay much more random, and that much more frustrating, especially when you realize that all you have to do is push one button to get from anywhere high to anywhere low.

In short, people don't want paras out mainly because it would make the game harder and more complicated, otherwise known as requiring skill and practice to become better at.

I've taken a liking to parachuting off random things. My personal favorite is to take a jeep off Kubra dam, jump out, and pull the ripcord. But with the introduction of ziplines/climbing cords that's supposed to be in the expansion, I wouldn't lament the loss of the retractable/reusable uberchute.

EoD mod had no paras and it was kinda nice to actually see people use the choppers like they are suppose to. But I think ultimately the biggest change would be that you'd see lots more people getting killed on ladders.

Actually it makes perfect sence. infantry do not run around with parachutes on their back.

chopper pilots and crewmen do not wear parachutes either. In the real world only pilots of planes use chutes and even then they use an ejection system with their cockpit seats.

Now if you want infantry to have chutes then they should all be airbourne infantry and they should only have chutes to start the round as the jump from a tranport plane. then after that no more chutes.


FYI I like the chutes and want them to remain in the game. it makes for some crazy fun. I just wanted to point out that you are wrong.:)

I don't understand why they made the damage from small jumps so drastic in the first place. I can see taking damage from 15 feet (in game units) or above, but it's just silly to have to pull out your parachute to jump off a 10 foot ledge. I mean, heck, the silly dolphin-divers can bounce around and land on their belly repeatedly without taking damage. It's inconsistent game physics at best.
