Microphone not working

I can't seem to get my microphone working in BF2.
Works OK when I'm not running the game.
I have an Audigy Sound Blaster (about 2 years old now), the one with the plug-in's on the front of the machine as well as the rear.
I've tried it using both 'Mike 1', and 'Mike 2/Line-in' and neither will work with the game.
I cannot get a sound reading when in 'Options' using the microphone test, either.
It will work when I use Skype, so I'm thinking it's a setting or an incompatability problem.
Any suggestions from you fine folk?

You try connecting it to the card in the back of the machine? I know with an old SB Live I had - had seperate thing for the front - so in effect had 4 mic inputs.

Also - in game - under audio - set it to high and select your card. Can't remember what all the settings are in there - game not in front of me. I believe you can set it for your card in there. I have mine set to hardware.

Also - make sure skype is not running and taking the resource.

Another thing - make sure that skype does not mute the mic when you are done with it. (might be the first thing to check) Open up your sound settings and make sure the mic is not muted.

also make sure in the game you set up the mic preferences. I remember when I first tried using a mic it didn't work, I had to go under audio and mess around with the mic settings

Which sound options are you using in BF2? Try chaning the sound from software, hadware, high, low, mdedium. Might have an effect. Is EAX on?
