I don't try to be a point/kill whore, but I can't seem to help it...

It's really annoying. Recently any game where I have a high K/D ratio and a large amount of points it seems more often than not my team loses. A game where I have a relativley low one my team often seems to win. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it's really annoying me! The one exception is when I'm commander.

I'll also note I like to play 32-64 player games and only join auto-balance server (so I'm never on a team that ridiculously outnumbers the other), still, with such a low win/loss ratio considering how experienced I am I feel like an unintentional pointwhore. When I do win and get a low kill/death ratio and points it usually seems to be because the enemy commander decides to strike artillery on me instead of a squad of 6 who's capping his most important base and such.

Any suggestions, should I have no regard what-so-ever for my survival when I play even though me dieing means my team losing a ticket?

I experience the opposite, so I'm afraid I can't help. When I'm in an effective team or squad, I get insane amounts of points.

Survival in a arcade game is like drinking straws at a restaraunt: it's a virtually endless resource when you have a lot, and no one will worry about you depleting that resource unless it gets dangerously low.

So long as your actions are helping your team, no one will complain. You can be a lone wolf sniper, sitting quietly on a hill or behind some crates. So long as you are helping your team, not necessarily listening to your commander (although I recommend against that), no one will bother you. On the other hand, if you are camping helicopters to fly them 300ft into a tree 10 times in a row, then you are just being an ass. You are consuming team assets with little to no effectiveness, assets that would better serve the team if they were in someone else's hands.

If your team wins fairly, that's all that counts. Who ever tops the scoreboard only matters to those who are competing for personal scores and rank. Personally, I just go in and try to help my team however I can. I know the ranks will come eventually, and I'm in no hurry to quickly get bored with the game and say "done it all, now what?" Players that just go in to point farm and climb rank so they can be the best are only competing in a virtual popularity contest. Competition and drive are good qualities, but not if they're at the expense of the team dynamic.

Yours is a well thought post but how does one increase the use of the team dynamic? I try very hard to play with squads and work the "teamwork" angle everytime I play...so, how can you increase that awareness and increase teamwork in such a random e-world?

Truth be told, the issues with the programming in the game are secondary as compared to the issues with lack of team play.

To each player his own issues, I guess...

I like to take out Commander's assets. Usually, if I concentrate on those objectives my team wins but my score sucks.

Funny, I don't know whether I've been insulted or complimented. :/

What's really annoying is, though, is that sometimes I don't seem to be helping the team at all but we win. I guess because I am drawing the enemy fire or something (getting jets to bomb me instead of a cluster of my team's tanks). On the other hand, I can defend the most important CP in the map nearly perfectly and still watch as my team loses.

I'm a kill whore and when I push it, my team usually wins. It's not always just how much you kill but who you kill. So many times I'll see people on say Karkand in armor killing up a storm. Meanwhile the other team's armor is on the next street doing the same thing. So really you're not making a difference for your team since your letting the armor have it's way. Now if you take out the armor it really helps your team.

I play sniper about 75 %, although I'm not usually on a team that much, I feel I help our side out, by staying back and covering the flag at different bases, while there moving on to another, most of the games I have played in my team will capture a flag and move on. just to have the enemy move in and capt the flag just as soon as there out on site, I'm talking about one man in a jeep, thats where i come in, i've shoot the guy and the if i'm in aposition to capture the flag then I move in, most of games I wan't get a lot of points but I feel like we won the round some time, because of that
