Re: BF2 wont play on 50inch HDTV
I had a problem when trying out a LCD screen. I found that when it tried to load the EA games logo video it would remain black and that was it. In the end I just renamed all the game video file extensions to .old and logged straight into BF2, work fine then. Could be an issue with BF2 resolution switching. Its well known that the game is poorly coded....well poorly QA'd. -
Re: BF2 wont play on 50inch HDTV
i called EA about this one and they didnt even know figures. They said the would have the "Senior Tech Support " or somthing like that call me back, still sitting by the phone, really ticks u off when a $4000 screen cant play a $50 game. If any one has ideas id love to hear em, thanksComment

Re: BF2 wont play on 50inch HDTV
Have you tried settings the default settings in BF2 prior to connecting to the TV??
Is the TV the screen hooked up when you tried.
When CRT is hooked up set BF2 to lowest settings in video resolution and refresh rate, e.g. 800x600@60Hz and save the settings and exit the game.
You can also do this manually by editing video.con in notepad.
It is located in ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000x where x > 1.
You can check you are editing the correct file by opening profile.con in same folder, if that has your login settings then it is the right folder.
Another way of doing it is going into: ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\ and deleting all of the folders in there, then start game and it will be with BF2 default audio, video, controls settings. You can then retrieve your account in Manage Accounts, at logon prompt. This approch is also used whn changing other hardware like audio or video card.Comment

It states clearly in the readme.txt how to set default settings if you have problems with display mode, so your particular problem isn't an example of poor QA or support:Originally posted by neo265I had a problem when trying out a LCD screen. Many of the problems posted here in Client Support could be easily solved by looking in the readme.txt or at EA Tech Support site here:- CHANGING DISPLAY MODE
Occasionally on some video cards you may be allowed to set the
display mode to one not supported by your computer. This will result
in a black screen being shown. To remedy this use the Windows
Explorer to find and delete the directory:
\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\
This will reset your game to the default settings. You can
now start the game, retrieve or create a new profile, and re-adjust
the settings using the Menu as normal.
