Is there anyway to rewind in BFRecorder besides fast forward?

    Re: BF2 Recorder

    No, it's not possible ...

Jonas Kjellström from DICE Sweden replied to a BF2 player's e-mail on the subject and, on the ReliantFilms.com website, his message read:
    ______________________________

Unfortunately a rewind is impossible in the sense that a movie-playback rewind works. The data stream the battle-recorder is basically what's sent over to a client during game-play, so it's not possible to go back in that stream to any arbitrary position.

The trick we've used here that works for scripted recordings is to record quite short scenes of about 1 minute each. That way demo.restartDemo and fast-forward makes life not too painful. This only works if you are admin on the server, of course.

We had ideas of inserting keyframes in the stream for all objects so that one could rewind to a few spots in the stream, but it turned out to be very complicated to do that right so we didn't have time for it.

It'd be so helpful to have rewind. countless hours of fast-forwarding, or starting over.

moved to client support, by the way
