    PC SPECS & Gameplay speed

    Hello
Well, I guess I should first introduce myself.

My name is Daniel, I am 22 years old and live in Montreal.
I presently work as a network admin

Member of a Mature Counter-Strike Clan called Zero Tolerance where we promote teamwork, maturity, fair play and respect.

Well, I can say I am still a newbi with bf2... Yet, I was ok in the previous Desert Combat...

Anyways, I used to run an athlonXP 2400+ 768ddr333 with a radeon9600 pro
I kept in in custom 800x600 with a mix of low and medium settings and ran perfectly smooth.

For this game I upgraded to an AthlonXP 3000+ with a 6600GT (agp8x)(XFX)
With the upgrade, I got some issues... eventually realized that my bar of 256 is crashing my pc...

Later, reformat my 2 year old windowsxp installation (kept it for a record time) latest drivers...

But the thing is, now, the game seems to take a bit longer to load wich I find ok because of the 256ddr less
Yet it lags even MORE... When I jump in the game, the first 5 to 10 min, I have BAD lag untill it settles.
10 to 20 min runs great, after that it restarts lagging every once in a while. Yet the graphics setting are not THAT much higher.

    any ideas ?

Funny thing... I put my 9600pro on my IBM Netvista p3 933 w/384 ram
Low graphics, 100view distance... besides the loading into the game it runs SMOOTH as SILK... so how can my other pc have so much issues :'(

I would like to know what kind of graphics setting Radeon9800 and geforce6600 users are running

last night I tried 1024x768 @ 75 refresh rate to make it the same as my background. with a mix of medium and low settings(most on medium)... yet lags like hell !

I tried 3 different forceware graphics...
one that came with the card
the other was the same driver but tweaked (from guild3d)
the other direct from NVIDIA (the latest) and has worked the best...

Anyways, I love bf2, And I work as a network admin from 8:30 to 5:30 making me a forum post whore (when work is quiet)

hope to get to know some of you better :)

You really need to get 2gb of ram or at least 1gb. I dont know how you can play bf2 with so little ram. You will notice a huge diff if you get more ram.

I would certainly recommend more RAM as well.

1 GB minimum. 1.5 GB optimal. 2 GB for all high settings.

      And welcome :hi:

        Thats what I was thinking...
with the 2400+ and radeon9600pro I was using 768 and it was going good.
i guess my bar of 256 was generic (when was told it was major) and had issues with the new cpu due to the extra bus speed.

        and SERIOUSLY... I am SHOCKED.
I have battlefield2 demo running without ANY lag on a p3 933 with 384 ram... low graphs but hell, i didnt think it would run LOL

that made me think that I should be safe with 512 ram
But I guess more details would require more ram ?

Ill buy an extra 512 ram after work :)
