Attack Chopper Loop (and other stunts)

It took me some practice, but I've managed to get this little manuver down. I can pull off a loop at about 600 ft above the harddeck.

Lastnight, I used it in a chopper on chopper dogfight for the first time... and it was sweet! Pulled up, over, and though the loop, dropping myself right on my foe's tail and blowing him outta the sky in very short order.

What suprised me was my gunner's reaction. We were on Battle Coms and he freaked out! First it was "What the hell are you doing??", followed by "Ah, I don't think that's a great idea!", and finally, "HOLY :censored:!! That was AWSOME!".

Now I'd call myself a perty good pilot. I don't think I'm great... but this guy couldn't stop going off about my flying!

    Definatly made me

This made me think about who's doing what stunts with these suckers. I've got a break loop move that works well (do a loop, but when you are inverted, you roll out of it and come out goint 180 degrees from your original heading). I've tried a few variations on the ol Split S, but those tend to end with an abrupt meeting between my chopper and the dirt. Got a nose over to work, but you have to be rediculously high to pull it off.

So... who'd got some manuvers they'd like ta share? Does anyone have any information on RL helocopter tactical manuvers?

You need 600ft to pull off a loop?

I'm sorry, but doing a loop in combat is pretty dumb. I personally love it when enemy chopper attempt one on me as a pilot or a gunner. They don't help against stinger missles very well either. You'll basically look like a fool who's trying to show off, enless your gunner is a private. Barrel rolls are also a joke. Heavy strafing and gaining/losing quick altitude will suffice for nearly every threat.

It's very possible to do it in all 6 choppers.

I can pull it off in either attack chopper.
The trick is to get a bit of a run at it before trying to loop. You need to gain some altitude, burn some off to pick up speed, pull up at a moderat rate until you get vertical, then pull up HARD!

Hehe, I once managed it in a blackhawk, but I needed SERIOUS altatude to start and still was getting slapped in the face by low branches when it leveled out. It's of no practical value... other than making your passangers puke, I guess.

Nope, I don't think that at all. My gunner did, but I actually pointed out that I think I'm a fairly good pilot. I don't consiter myself to be ubershlick or nuttun.

The loop I used worked brilliantly. Probably because the other pilot thought I was nuts and deside to break off rather than try to follow me.

But this is the reason for the post:
I've played a fair number of flight sims and know some pilots (both military and not). I know a pile of text-book combat manuvers for planes... but have never even heard of one specifically for choppers.

                Are there any?

Yea loops aren't hard at all. I've done double loops in the attack choppers, and plain loops in all 3 transport choppers. All are pointless in combat.

doing a roll is for being goofy :p...but doing a barrel roll can be useful when you are facing head to head against an enemy chopper and your gunner misses and you happen to be out of missiles yourself. It not only is somewhat hard to hit, but you decrease altitude and are now to either their left or right, making them have to readjust. Of course...usually my gunner and I only need one tv guided missile But hey...sometimes he has bad days! sometimes I have bad days where I am more likely to blow up in the chopper while taking off because the wheel hit a pebble and BOOM lol
