    1.run up to someone

    2.pull out your n00b t00b

3.jump and fire at your feet

    4.repeat

    :P

honestly though, think of it as a mortar and experiment with it for a while.

actually i did try to test it out by shooting the grenade launcher on the walls and ceilings, and observe how it hits the walls. but still no clue yet. especially at long range, how can those grenade launcher whores shoot at the target so accurately with that non sensical crosshair?

very simple, the lines get smaller as the distance increases. basicly you line up the relevant horizon line in accordance with how far away your target is. i dont know how far apart they're set (probably 30 feet or so between each elevation) but i know thats what they're used for.

thats real life, in the game they are a waste of time. just fire 3 rounds and you will know that trajectory, which never changes.
but as if anybody even uses it at those ranges anyway.

i see, so basically u pick the appropriate horizontal line according to the distance of ur target, then aim at the target with that line?

yeah the notches are there so you can measure distances. Its something you'll have to figure out yourself since how you judge distances may be different then others. General rule of thumb though is if you line the marker at ground level the top is about ten meters or so.
