Heres the setup now:

Intel 865GBF motherboard http://www.intel.com/products/mothe...65gbf/index.htm
Pentium 4 ---2.0 gig
1.0 gig ram...
6600 GT Video (newly installed this week)
Creative Sound Blaster Live 24 bit....(new today, sound was choppy, this truely improved the audio....happy with it...)




Whats my next best upgrade ......for gaming....since BF2 is the ultimate test on your system...

New Chip? (2.8, 3.0, 3.2, 3.4 ????) best place to order online? newegg.com ??
Add another Gig of ram?

I think you'd notice another gig of RAM the most with that setup.

Take back that sound card. I bought it and then found out that it's "not supported" by BF2 (voices studder when using high settings and EAX).

You want EAX, hardware settings on high. Trust me.

I had heard it was not supported, but figured I would try it anyhow...
Whats the EAX going for?
Don't wanna dump a TON on a SC...

EAX is the cool feature that makes gunfire inside a building sound different than gunfire outside. Also makes the sound much crisper and more directional. If a tank is coming up behind you, you'll hear it really well. Makes a HUGE difference.

I'd suggest buying a Creative Audigy 2ZS or an Audigy 4 (not the pro one that's over $200) for great sound on a budget. (they're still about $80 though) I bought the Audigy 4 because it's pretty much an Audigy 2ZS with a remote control and it was cheaper too.

I thought all Creative stuff had the EAX built into its cards...

My box shows the EAX logo on it..... It seems to work fine...
I swapped out the Nvidia 6600 Gt Graphics card for a ATI Radeon X850...
I have the Video settings custom configued with 50% on high and 50% on Medium.... no AA..... Everything runs GREAT. AUdio included...

Upon install of this new card I set everything to HIGH...and the audio was STTTTTUUUUUUUTTER Central.... Backing it down a bit made a difference...

I wouldn't think the audio would be affected but it is for some reason....

Which is why I am looking into swapping out for a 3.0 or 3.2 CPU... and adding another gig of ram.... (just $$$ right....damn game gonna cost me a Grand.....)

Yup..I'll admit that folks like us are 'nutz' to the rest of the world.

But think about those people who spend THOUSANDS or TENS of thousands on their cars...modding them on the outside and pimping the audio on the inside...for something you just drive around in and leave in the driveway/garage/parking lot 90% of the time.

I don't mind spending money on my PC when it gives me so much in return (an NO I'm not talking about pr0n ) I get news, create and listen to music, play games, communicate with family and friends, work, watch movies, etc...now I'm getting veklempt.

I have Virtually the same Rig as you snypynfool apart from the speed. Mine is 2.26 Ghz. I think my next upgrade is a new Mobo as the Mobo I have won't support a new processor much higher than 2.26Ghz.
Oh, and I onlt have 512Mb RAM!
Can't afford nothing yet though until NEXT YEAR!!!

Originally when I bought my MOBO, I didn't know much about this stuff.... ( I STILL DON'T CLAIM TOO!!! by all means... still a NOOB...)

But the guy solf me on it and then I found out it was capped out with the chip I just put in it...which was this 2.0gig... So I returned my mobo and told him I was ****ed that is wasn't going to be able to upgrade the cpu with it... No problems...
So now I can chip up to a 3.8 i think...I won't though.....
Looking at 3.0-3.2 for now... and then it's a new system from there in a year or so...
