Error with BF2. Freeze up at choose faction screen.

Hi, I have a Radeon 9800 with 256mb vid-card ram and 2 GB system ram. I have been playing BF2 successfully for quite some time, but yesterday, (I didnt' have a UPS) the power went out and my computer shut down immediately, right in the middle of a game. When I started my computer up again, I tried all my different applications and they all worked, except for BF2. I can login, click on multiplayer, choose a server and everything, but after it's done loading and I click on join game, it gives me that screen in which you choose your faction, kit and spawn point.

And my keyboard and mouse don't work in the game. The mouse cursor is stuck in the middle and my keyboard doesn't do anything. I can see action taking place at the edges of that screen, like soldiers running and tanks and stuff, but my keyboard and mouse don't work! When I press the start key (on the keyboard) or ctrl-alt-del, then bf2 minimizes and my mouse and keyboard work perfectly, but when I bring bf2 back up again, the error is still there. (No error messages). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it still don't work.

Can anyone help?

Answer is all over the forums if you just search you know :)

In the options screen revert the controls to default settings and if it doesn't work then drop by and let us know !

yes, I too have the same problem. I load the game fine but when it is time to pick a kit and squad...i cant move my cursor nor does the KB function.

What are some other battlefield2 forums?

Obviously noone knows what to do about this.

Ok, somehow I got to play a round last nite before I got tired. I surpassed the "lock up on Kit pick" by changing some dumb settings like AA (change anything) and let the "optimizing shaders" load time do it's thing. Im not saying this is the solution for all but somwhow it worked for me.

Also, how does the game load into a server for yall...mine is quite wild. I use the in game browser and double click a server Id like to play on. The game seems to "exit" and load up that Battlefield 2 image again, then I see a blank msg from EA (like where "buy SF today" used to be) then it loads the map. Kinda wierd and annoying as it takes even longer to load a map than before but at least I got to play.

So does that mean u can play regularly or that it worked for a while and doesnt anymore?

By AA do u mean anti-aliasing? If I change those settings I will loose fps, but i will try.
