Required/recommended internet connection for BF2

Hi,sitting here in Tokyo with a 100Mbit connection which throws buckets and buckets of info at all directions:rock: and runs BF2 sweet...

This will change when I move back to Sweden where I'll probably have a 2-4Mbit connection since all neighbours are all old farts who don't exactly game much online:cussing: ...

Just wondering how that will affect my ping when I'm in Sweden with that connection. Anyone knows?


Also, I'd like to know what kind of connection do you all have atm?

well i am on a 10mb connection at home and my ping is between 10-30 on uk servers (I am from the UK), when i connect to other non UK servers my ping is always below 100, and the game runs really good (does not slow down or freeze, not even when my ping went to 150 as i was downloading at the same time).

Ah, nice indeed.
I get about 10-30 on jap servers and 140 on WC servers whilst European ones gives me 350+(dont play there anyway.)

Do you recon I'll get a decent ping when I'm in Sweden with a 2-4Mbit connection on European/Scandinavian servers?

your download means nothing its how goodur upload is. 512k down and 256k up is fine for 20 - 30 pings.

I use to be on a 2mb connection and my ping was between 20-30 on uk servers and just under 100 of american servers... so you ping should be ok (under 100), admins only kick you out if your ping is in the 200's.

well on the 256mb upload it was 20-30 on uk servers and my upload has now gone to 512mb and is between 10-20 now.

Aha, so when I subscribe to my broadband I have to choose my upload speed somehow? Or is there some standard which I don't need to care about?

It seems like i have nothing to worry about w a 2Mbit connection then...good! atleast not for gaming purposes

The most standard upload speed not is 256mb anyway so you will be fine on 2/4mb broadband

Internet connection speed can sometimes have nothing to do with online gaming experience and pings. I get pings of French servers at about 40ms at work with a 512Kb line (16kb/sec upload) and 20ms on my 20Mb line at home.

Anything bigger than 1Mb *should* be ok depending on the ISP (some offer special 'ping' packages for gamers).
