    Problems with x850xt pe

    hi,

I've been playing bf2 on a radeon 9800 pro with 1024*786 everything on medium setting and 2 x AA. The game ran very smooth and no problems at all. Then I bought a radeon x850xt pe and with everything on high and 2 x AA the game is stuttering and I get framedrops. My framerate is also very low, between 45 and 40 and dropping under 35 once in a while. When I turned my agp aperture to 128, there was less stuttering but the framerate maintained. I was told that my PSU 400 Watts was the problem and with less power there where less frames. But that was hard to believe. Can anyone help me? I'm dying to play bf2 but I can't with this card.

    My spec:

    P4 3.0Ghz 800fsb
    2Gb Ram
radeon x850xt pe ati catalyst 5.10
    PSU 400 Watts

Try searching forums for PCI Latency and use the tool mentioned in several post, to lower it to 64 and see if it makes any difference.

You might want to look at the BF2 guide at http://www.tweakguides.com it explains a lot about how LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH video settings differ. Having all on HIGH won't increase the quality a great deal, but will make performance a great deal worse. You most likely won't be able to tell the difference between MEDIUM and HIGH while playing, only in terms of how it runs much better on MEDIUM.

I have done everything including that. I have read all forums on battlefield2 issues concerning my problem this last week and there is no real solution. So I'm trying to post this on allmost every forum with topics of Battlefield 2.

Did you uninstall and re-install the drivers? If not you must do that because the drivers configure themselves to the specific card.

Also you AGP Apature should equal the amount of RAM on the card, thus it should be at 256.
