Is HP good?

I'm still deciding whether I should spend $2000 or just use $1300 best buy credit card since its been sitting around.. I saw this at the shop

all of those from bestbuy for under$1000 after additional rebate and I get a lot of points which is same as credit.
lastly,512MD Corsair Valueselect DDR400(pc3200) $40 from newegg.com

I think its bang for the buck all of those above under 1000 dollars which will get me all high setting on BF2 right?

I paid the same price a few months back for basically the same HP, but it was a 3500+. It's an awesome pc, I put an X800Pro in it and it plays BF2 with everything at high. Also, never had to upgrade the powersupply; I plan on upgrading the memory at Christmas maybe (runs great with 1GB).

HP is one of the worst PC makers out there.


If your not gonna build it yourself, get a dell, or alienware.

Although Dell's quality is diminishing and Alienware is terribly overpriced.

Its best just to build it yourself.

Dude, I bought a HP because my Dell was a piece of garbage that couldn't be upgraded. You can't get a comparable Dell with an open PCI-E slot and maximum 4Gb memory for that price.

1) All computers can be upgraded.
2) Don't buy Alienware. Alienware sell there computers waaaaaay overpriced (Dell has reasonable prices).
3) Don't buy a prebuilt (unless it's a very good deal) because the motherboards will be locked (Dell XPS Gen 2 and up have a partly unlocked motherboard).
4) Every Dell based on the socket 478 and up (they never used the Willamette (423) cores, so that shouldn't be a problem) and LGA775 (and Xeon socket 603/604) can handle up to 4GB of RAM (goes for every prebuilt with the same socket 478 and up).
5) You need more than 1GB of RAM for Battlefield if you want to have it run smooth (else pagefiling kicks in a bunch).
6) Rather buy retail products than OEM products (OEM products have only 1 year of warranty, while most videocard retailers give a warranty of at least 3 years, and in some cases a lifetime guarantee (XFX, eVGA, BFG)).
7) Just laugh at HP, putting a 300W PSU in such a system, you wouldn't be able to run a 6200 in that thing without upgrading your PSU
8) Don't buy that HP, built your own rig. HP uses pretty cheapo RAM, like all prebuilts they provide locked motherboards (with unlocked AGP/PCI/PCI-E and SATA bus, which is totally...crap), you'd need to upgrade the videocard and it has Windows MCE which you don't want :p.
Aside from that the 3700 San Diego is alright and the HDD is alright too. So, built your own rig.
