Snipers following orders

I know there has been several debates over snipers as team players. I usually form my own "sniper" squad and try to follow the commander's orders - within reason. I try to be nice and cooperative.

Some orders confuse me, though. Should I be expected to walk across entire maps to capture distant flags? I am a sniper and the sole member of my team, not the leader of a tank squad.

Please, check what kit I play and give me orders I actually can accomplish.

From a commanders perspective:
Here's a tip. Go hide in a bush and stop occupying a squad slot if you want to be a loner. A single sniper isn't worth the effort to command. You're forcing the me into micromanaging, and that's generally a bad thing because it steals my attention from other things. You're much more useful when in a squad of several individuals as this presents the enemy with more problems to cope with. This is because you share a common goal. Even though people might think that you're playing a lonewolf kit you're actually adding to the diversity of the squad. You are more able to take out/damage targets at a greater range (duh!) than any other class which can prove to be invaluable in some scenarios.

So please do me a favour, do not rant about weird orders when what you're doing youself isn't much better.

You should try playing sniper as SquadLeader and act as a mobile spawnpoint for your squad, move with them and help take out infantry that are threatening your squadmates.

We use this method often and its surprizingly effective :) just remember to hang back a little and not get killed so often.

When I play commander I try to assign squads to objectives they are close to; this makes sense but there are, unfortunately, alot of muppets out there that have no clue so Im afraid you have to make up your mind whether or not you want to pursue an objective thats halfway across the map..

I find that refusing to follow orders often makes the commander give you objectives that are closer to where you are; common sense prevails sometimes

i often use squads of snipers to defend flags that always have guys attackign, they are great alsong as not tanks come.

Ok, some good points there. I will tend to join other squads next time. I hardly do any commanding myself, so I wouldn't know.
