What do you guys think? I was looking at my numbers and i noticed my accuracy was something to work on, this led me to think about all the times when im a gunner in an apc or whatever, and i just shoot at things like rocks and signs. I know it is some how part of your overall accuracy, but where? lets say im a medic and Im on top of a tank or humvee does accuracy to the vehicle or class?

The reasons not to shoot at nothing

• The enemy hears you coming.
• you concentrating on a rock not the horizon may miss seeing enemy.
• If you do see an enemy, your gun may be hot or close to being overheated
• lacks control
• decreases accuracy

It is fun to shoot but i stopped i havent seen a change yet in accuracy but i am able to see enemy faster and take them down. I have also really noticed how many people get into my vehicle and just shoot at nothing except the ground. Just a thought:guns:

i'm pretty sure those don't count towards accuracy. that rating's based off the soldier weapons only - no vehicles

Brother your theory is flawed.

As a gunner on a BH I do shoot at "nothing". More specifically I shoot at places where I think people hide as we approach a base. I usually come up with a couple of extra kills this way. As a blackhawk pilot I encourage my pilots to keep those guns rolling and shooting a the usual hiding places.

As MEC or Chinese chopper pilot I agree. Those guns do nothing but attract attention. They arent even worth firing.

As an APC pilot I prefer that passengers use the F10 and ff11 views and leave the gun alone as well. This way they can see whats going on and react more quickly.

Same goes for passengers in back of jeeps.

Is there anything worse than ferrying someone from the carrier to the island in Wake only to have the gunner try and take down jets and helicoptors which hadn't actually spotted us until he let rip only to end up toast and back on the carrier?

look for threats instead of shooting at rocks.

Last night i kid you not i shot down a bomber jet as a gunner in a BH.

The jet came in too our base at spawn really really slowly and i just let rip on it before it passed us i had destroyed it :)

That's pretty much the only way to hit a jet with guns...they have to be going VERRRRY slowly.

If you are going for strategic points - yes fire away.

If we are traversing a canyon, or across the water and you are writing your name on the wall, dirt, or in the water - not helpful. Especially when you are trying to sneak up on the back side of a base or sneak down an alley. The sound of the chopper blades makes it hard to judge distance. Are they too far that I cannot see them through the fog? Or are they low enough they are behind the trees? I hear the guns blaring and oh look there is the fire and tracer rounds pointing me exactly to where he is. Thank you oh wonderful noobly. Consider yourself dead.

As a pilot - if I hear my gunner open up on something, and not just a burst to see if he gets splash damage around an object (testing areas) - I think he is on to something and so I turn or slow to give him a vantage pt.

i think it is important to coordinate with pilot/driver and the gunner of any vehicle.

lets say i tell the pilot. when i shoot, that means i saw enemy and i need u to slow down/turn or whatever so that i can finish him off.

Firing at random does not hurt your accuracy. You're accuracy is based on a formula incorporating Kills vs Deaths, not your actually accuracy as Psychostats and CS did. We're talking two totally different things.

Don't be absurd, what does accuracy have to do with kills and deaths? Surely it's the percentage of shots you've hit with.

The accuracy is the small arms accuracy! shooting while being in a tank or a buggy does not count in that accuracy in your stats.

However, people must stop shooting for nothing as it may heat your guns and you wont be able to use it effectivly seconds later. Also you will be telling the enemy... hye! I am here!

When you are in an APC or a Tank, chances are, they already know you are there. Sometimes suppresive fire will keep the enemy bottled up somewhere and give your troops time to move forward and take better position for assault. It all depends on the situation.

Now...shooting your weapons when you know no one is nearby is a waste of time, but then again riding from point a to point b can get pretty boring I suppose. I would worry less about accuracy with the weapon, ammo is cheap. Your kill:death ratio and your ability to kill the enemy before he can kill you should be more important.

If you wanna be super accurate, play nothing but sniper and only shoot when you know you have a shot.
