BF 2 does not load, BF 2 Demo does

I have a strange problem, my laptop a toshiba M50 running a Radeon x600 SE 128mb and packing 1GB of RAM runs the BF 2 Demo nicely.

However when I install the retail version it gives me the standard windows xp error msg straight after it completes the cd check and before it loads the main program.

Any know of a fix for this problem?

BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.


Then it gives the option to send a report.


Just before it loads BF2 properly straight after the cd check.

Edit:

It would appear that it is the CD check which is making BF2.exe not run. Sadly the only option which doesn't involve Punkbuster banning my cd key is updating my drives drivers.
