    Battle Com Servers Mis-configured

I don't get why there's SO many servers that at marked as supporting Battle Com, but don't have it hooked up.

I thought for the longest time that I was doings something wrong on my end. That I had mis-configured something or was having a firewall/router conflict. Turns out, no, I'm fine. It's the servers that have the configuration issues.

    This compells me to ask a few questions;

Why are so many servers listing as supporting battle Coms when they don't?

Why isn't there a check in place to make sure that they are working if it's listed with the master server?

Does anyone else find this as annoying as myself?

Does anyone have a list of server that have Battle Coms PROPERLY set up?

Odd... I thought people would have more to say on this topic.

    Another question:
How many of you actually USE the Battle Coms?

      I use a 3rd party app.

But I do agree that a lot of servers out there do NOT have VOIP set up properly on their end.

agreed. i hate when me and my friends we join a server which says the battlecomm is enabled in the server browser, then find out actually it isnt.

There's a couple reasons why this issue bugs the hell outta me.

For starters, I did some testing and found that using 3rd party VOIP causes more lag/packet and takes up more system resources loss than the Battle Coms. For me, system resources are a BIG DEAL.

Second, I like playing with random people. When the Battle Coms are working, it makes teamwork A LOT easier to manage... even when you don't know the guys you're playing with. When using TS or Vent with a buddy, you still can't talk to others that might join your squad OR the Commander!

I consiter Battle Coms to be one of the coolest features in BF2... when it WORKS!

that's true. that's why i dont use vent when im playing BF2. i try to close most programs except for those running at the background, to get the best in game performance as much as i can. i used vent back when i played CS in CAL. cuz my computer could handle it. but BF2 requires much more system resources.

I've never had a problem running a 3rd party VOIP app in the background.

I use GameVoice the most and have recently dabbled a bit with Ventrilo. Rarely have I used TeamSpeak.

The point isn't if those 3rd party apps cause issues or not. They DO give you a preformance hit regaurdless, tho. If you've got lot's of BW and good hardware, it's not a big deal... but it's still there.

Naw, I'm less worries about that than the other points I made. Full in-game voice helps pub squads to play well.

Oh...I love it when there is a good squad and a good commander all using in-game voice.

Even though I'm using a 3rd party app, in-game VOIP still works. My GameVoice buddies just hear me twice

Shame that voice works on such a small percentage of servers.
