    Mic Issues

I have posted this problem before, but no one has came up with any solutions, or even a reply..
    -----
This all started on the beta. I'll go join a server, and the server will have it's mic turned on.. and i'll join a squad or be commander, and it wont let me talk. My mic will be showing that i'm talking but they cant hear me. This happens just about 95% of the servers i goto [On beta/Retail]. I have tried re-installing plenty of times.. I also tried to make new accounts.. Nothing seems to work

One of my friends i was playing with said that he saw a black X over my mic whenever you hit the Caps Lock key... I tried it out, and i even saw it.

I have no clue in why it does this! Any help would be awesome.

    Thanks

I think a lot of servers do not have VOIP set up properly. It involves some port forwarding.

If you can record yourself with windows sound recorder (C:\windows\System32\sndrec32.exe), then your mic is set up fine.

If it doesn't work in BF2, then either:
    a) you don't have it set up in BF2 properly (BF2VoiceSetup.exe)
    or
    b) the server doesn't have it set up properly

My money is on the server.

bf2voicesetup.exe is in your BF2 install directory.

        Oh...guess that's not it then

Are you using a USB mic by any chance?

            Re: Mic Issues

I have used a USB mic/headset before without any issues, that should not be the problem *provided* that your USB port can provide enough power. If your mic works in windows it should work in BF2. Try switching to another USB port.

I too am using a USB mic...but sometimes people have difficulties getting them working with BF2.

              I don't know if it's a volume thing.

But switching to another USB port certainly sounds like a good place to start.

Did you change your 'Voice' hardware in Windows' 'Sounds and Audio Devices's 'Voice' tab?
