Sry man, I just use my onboard SC. You might try unistalling the card, reinstall with just the basic drivers (latest from the creative website), none of the bloat stuff creative usually packs with their cards.

      GL hope this helps.

Go to your Run box, and type in "dxdiag" w/o the quotes. From there you can see what version of Direct X you are running, and perform a few basic tests including Direct Sound.
You will not find a directory for DX in your program files, as most of these files are in the system directory. You likely won't find the entry in your registry either as it's buried fairly deep, but doing so is not necessary anyway.

I did try the DXDiag and I found this note about nv4_disp.dll is not working well....

does this has to do with my installation of my sound card?

No that is your video driver.

Try setting your sound options in bf2 to Software and Medium or low.

jimmy is correct, that is the nvidia display driver. His suggestion about the sound settings is also spot on. Being sure you have up-to-date motherboard chipset drivers, video, and sound drivers is also important.

Hey, I have an external SB 24bit Live card, and I had the same problem. What I did to fix it was the following:
                1. Go into control panel
                2. Open up sounds and devices
                3. click advanced under speakers and settings
                4. open the performance tab and move the hardware acceleration slider to basic or emulation.

w/ basic the sound runs well, and I dont get any choppyness in the game, although the music is choppy some times. With emulation, all the sound is fine, but it seems to be a bit slow. For example, when I fire my gun it seems like the sound is not in sync with the audio. So I choose Basic.

Oh boy I got lot to do now...

well..I will try jimmies way...and as for my display driver I guess I have a problem with it as well.

I will un-install the display and install it with the latest driver patch along with it. then try to play around with the sound settings.

Thank you guys for the support I apreciate it. I will keep you updated with the results.

The SB 24 bit card is a piece of junk and cannot run BF2 in hardware mode. TONS of people have been affected and it's a crying shame.

Creative really ripped you off with that one.

Get an audigy or use on-board sound.

Did you disable any onboard sound in BIOS? That might be causing some of your problems, just a thought.

I have disabled SOund max from the device manager.

I will go and check again...

about audigy..which kind and how much does it cost....??

Not in the device manager, in BIOS as you boot up. As far as Audigy 2 cards, they're around $75 USD now.
