    Another crashing to desktop problem

does anyone know why all of the sudden i crash to desktop when trying to connect to a server for MP? i haven't played in a week and haven't messed with drivers or anything. only thing i've done recently was a windows update for security patches, nothing with video/audio/bf2 drivers.

SP works, but MP crashes right when "joining server".

i searched but didn't see problems that pertained to me.

I believe the Omega 5.10s are out try those. You can also try clearing the cache folder in "C:/program files/ea games/battlefield2/mods/bf2/"

i'll have to try the new omegas but the ones i have installed now are pretty new and i havent had any problems with them. especially since SP works fine but MP crashes.

there isn't cache in the location you mentioned, but i cleared the cache in the "C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache" folder with no luck.

My bad thats the one you need to clear. Just make sure you properly install the new drivers. For how to do this, view the "Graphics Cards and Utilities" sticky in the Hardware forum.

I have the exact same problem.

I can't uninstall BF2 either. It starts uninstalling and then I see a green screen flash up real fast like half a second, then it's back to desktop and does nothing.

Punkbuster is to blame. It doesn't like some drivers. Until you find the one causing the problem it will never be right. Mine was an iomega zip drive driver. Try dleting the BF2 folder in my documents, completely. Then empty recycling bin, reboot and restart the game, it will reload the entire folder saving a reinstall.
