Simple Windows OS problem, please help

    Hey all-

Well, I was downloading some new desktop icons to use when suddenly I thought "hey, I wonder if I can apply it to ALL folders rather than just one folder?"

So I went into a random folder, went Tools>Folder Options>File Types. Then I clicked on File Folder>Advanced, then Change Icon.

I changed the icon, nothing happens. So I try to open the folder back up, but hey! Now it opens up a SEARCH WINDOW rather than the FOLDER WINDOW. I try other folders, same thing. I have to now RIGHT-CLICK and hit open in order to open the folder. If I double-click, it'll open a search.

Basically, I'm wondering how do I reset it to the default?

    Thanks!

    EDIT

Okay, here're some screenshots to help show what I mean.

This is what I need to change. Right now, if I double-click on a folder, it'll enqueue all of it's files into Winamp. I need to get it to have te Open function as the default, like this.

This is File. The previous is File Folder. I can't Change the open and see how the whole Open command works, as it is unselectable.

    Here is where everything is:

It depends on what you made the change to, there are several icons to change in file types. If you go back to that same file path and select the one you changed the icon on, then select 'default' underneath the window..

Have you tried going into the folder options in control panel instead??

Open Folder Options, and select the Show tab (not sure it is labled that in English XP) and there is an option to reset all folders.

Not sure this will effect the folder and file types though. On my system File Folder contains only one entry called Find and Folder has Explore and Open. The File Folder probably exist for specific functions as Search, where Folder just is regular properties.

EDIT you can also look in registry (regedit.exe) at this location:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\Shell] this will have the Open, Explore and Browse with... so deleting the Browse would make it go away, but do this with causion, and make a System Restore point before deleting.
