connect to ip while offline

Does anyone know how to connect to a BF2 server while he is offline account? My problem is that i want to connect to a friends server to play a lan game but i can't scan him because he is in a different subnet (wifi network). I can ping his ip, copy paste files to his pc, there is no firewalls enabled in betwen.

If he were in a diffrent subnet you would not be able to ping or transfer files.

Yes you could if a route is in place, e.g. by a router.
The LAN option in BF2 probably only looks at your own subnet as what is considered LAN in BF2 and thus other BF2 LAN games in different subnets won't show up.

Have you tried adding this to shourtcut of BF2, so you join directly??

Let's say your friends server run on 192.168.200.200:16567

BF2.exe +joinServer 192.168.100.100 +port 16567

Just have him connect using his online account?

What's the problem? Don't you both actually own copies of the game?
