currently im running wuts in my sig and i have a feeling the 300 watt psu isnt doing its job. and i would like to know, if i cann use my 266 ddr ram with my other pc3200 ram, would this privde any benifits? or should i just leave it be. any help will be greatly apreciated.

If u use ddr 266 with ur pc 3200 ram, u will c a decrease in performance. I would just buy another stick of your pc3200 ram, and about the psu, i recommend about 420 watts these days and make sure its a 24 pin psu. -

Wattage is really the least important thing you should look for. Go with a quality brand that has a high +12v rail Amperage rating.Comment

thanks for the help, ive been having some problems with my hardrive today, it keeps shutting on and off for some reason, im yet to take the comp apart to see if its the connection. is a 300watt psu even enough for a p4 3ghz and a x800xl overclocked. it really makes me mad playing bf2 when the hardrive cuts out it just stops responding. any help will be greatly apreciated.

If you put DDR266 with DDR400 (PC3200) then the DDR400 will underclock itself to DDR266 speeds.
Get another stick of 512MB Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 memory if you aern't overclocking.
As for PSUs; PCP&C, Antec, Enermax, OCZ, and Forton (my fav.) are the best Power Supply manufacturers. Get atleast a 400W PSU.Comment

well figured out the problem with the hardrive, one of the connectors was a bit loose. my next upgrade will be me taking back the ram i have now and going for a 1 gig stick, as soon as i can get out. why does it take so long to load an online map?Comment

ok i have ordered a x800pro an havent gotten it yet but anyways ill have it an i have one gig of memory an a amd athlon64 3200
but my power supply is only 300watt could u guys tell me if this would be a good buy for a power supply.
its got very good ratings an its cheap an it has pretty good wattage 450
an also if i just keep my settings at about medium would that keep the wattage power down so it wouldnt have to use as much because i want be able to get the power suply tillthe end of november.Comment

I dont think you'll save a significant amount of power by running at low medium setting.
However you risk the health of your components by running them on too little power and this may lead to premature failure. You have to consider is it worth destroying an expensive CPU/MB/GFXcard for the want of a decent power supply.
Also be aware that having an high Watt rating does not make a good PSU. It needs to have the ability to provide enougth current over all its rails. So read the tech details of what you choose. You can bet a brown boxed CPU for 20 dollars but it isn't really the best choice for a gaming PC.Comment

ok how bout these power supplies
they both look pretty good but need to know which one i should go with.
the first one is cheaper but its ot like 550 watt
an the second one is 430 watt but higher priced i dont know anything about brands who to trust an who not to ive never messed with PSU's.
but i do know im on a tight budget $60 is ok but $75-$80 would be pushing it.Comment

this one seems to be pretty nice an ive heard good tings about coolmax plus i have a pci_e mother board an this one looks like it gets a good bit of power on all its rails.
