Master Sergeant/First Sergeant

Hey..

I'm one or two rounds away from gaining a rank to either Master Sergeant or First Sergeant. I'm missing one lousy medal to make it First Sergeant instead of Master Sergeant.... The Knife badge.

Now I know I'll be Master Sergeant when I hit the 20.000 points unless I somehow manage to get the knife badge which I doubt.
My question is then. Will I be promoted First Sergeant if I get my knife badge after I've been promoted to Master Sergeant or am I forever excluded from the First Sergeant rank?

I did try the search feature without luck btw, so I dont really need flaming for that plz :)

If you get promoted before you get the badge.. then, regardless you'll be a MSgt. Getting the badge after wont matter. For those ranks its whatever you have when you get it.. after doesn't matter.

Looking at your sig, you have plenty of room to get that knife badge.. if it means that much to you, don't do anything but run around with a knife. Sniper is usually the best for this since the uniform isn't easily noticeable to the other side, just run around and swing that thing.

The best strat I found was to avoid the battle, and come around behind the enemy.. support guys and other snipers will be proned out.. just lay down next to them.. whisper something nice to them.. then slash their azz, rinse/lather/repeat.

i just joined a server with a friend and he let me slash him 7 times... stoopid knife badge. only prob was, i was already on 23,000 so im stuck on Master Sarge. but hey... only a few months til i get sarge major :P

Not really a "stat padder" persay, but definitely not a proud way to get the badge.

oh please shut up.. it was just 7 poxy knife kills.. hardly stat padding

i coulda got him to let me blow him up 13 times with c4 ,,but i didnt, and shoot him 5 times with a pistol but i didnt do that either

stat padders are ppl who create massive scores every round by abusing the game.. this guy just wanted a quick way of getting his knife badge...

*cough* stat padding *cough* Shoulda just let him run with you as a medic and help out. I just got mine, and got my first sgt. Took maybe 3-4 rounds of attempts, felt a lot better than knifing my friend. Trife.

they have a knifes and pistols server only, if you are still trying to get your basic knife badge you can get it there.

I should be coming up on First Sergeant tonight but am skeptical about something ...

I've heard people saying before that they received a veteran version of a badge before they received the basic (hard to believe, but ok)

This may have happened with me when I got my veteran pistol a long time ago (I have all of my badges, over half of them are veteran) because I don't ever remember getting the basic pistol badge.

Will I be ok when I finally get the last couple of points?

If you got the badges at the same time, chances are that the basic one didn't correctly register, and you will move on to Master Sergeant.

According to BF2S though, you don't have the veteran knife badge, but you do have the basic one, so you should be all set. Not quite sure why you are so confused about it...

It was the Veteran Pistol one that was bothering me -- not worried about the knife one

Oh, misread it. My bad. Let me manually query the bf2 stat server since bf2s just shows the highest level one... basic pistol is id 1031619_1....

It shows you as getting them at the same time, but both are there. I really don't know what to tell you, you're going to hvae to find out by ranking up.
