HELP with router

Im pretty bad when it comes to networking so please be easy on me. I just picked up a billion 5102s modem/router because the computer guy at the store said they all use ethernet over usb these days, ok with me.

Get home, everything fine, installs alright, says im connected to internet but im not! I can ping my router but thats about it. in network places it says im connected and that my computer is recieving packets but i can not access the internet. I go through the router wizard several times, still doesn't work.

Should have got usb modem!

Go to My Network Places
Click 'Set Up a Home or Small Office Network'
go through the steps

If that doesn't work, go to your network card properties and check your TCP/IP settings and ensure that your IP and DNS are both set to automatically assign.

Look at what your router firewall settings are. I think my router by default denies all traffic so I have to explicitely set permissions. Does your router assign an IP address to your computer(s)? In that case you need to change your TCP/IP setting to obtain an IP address automatically.
