Put something else in the prefix box and then delete it with backspace. I think that will do it. Or else u have to remove some file in your bf2 map, but i am not sure wich one.

i've tried putting something else there then deleting them, it didnt work. i dont think it does any changes to ur prefix til you actually log in the account.

this is what i found on another forum:

All you need to do to clear your prefix is...

1. enter at least one character in the prefix field
2. highlight/select what you typed in
3. then press "DELETE".

And another way:

Right, found it

Go to "My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles" then open up "Global.con" in notepad and edit the line

" GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix "Prefix" "



and make it so it looks like following:

" GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix "" "

This will delete your prefix, hope this helped =)

I tried the first method that you provided, it worked perfectly. so I don't know about the second one. but i believe it works too. cuz the prefix is applied to all the accounts on that computer. it makes sense that the prefix value is saved in global.con, which is outside of the individual profile folders (e.g. 0001, 0002).

Due to the number of people complaining about this easily fixable issue, i have taken the time to make this guide.

To insert special characters or delete your prefix entirely,

Go into your BF2 folder in my documents.

My Documents -> Battlefield 2 -> Profiles -> Right click on "Global.con," and open it with Notepad.

Edit the characters (you can include any 6 characters, including ones that the login screen won't allow) in between the quotes in the following line:

GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix ""

For example, if you want the prefix EA-SUX, you would insert that into the quotes:

GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix "EA-SUX"

To delete the entire prefix, simply remove all characters in the quotes.

so what happens when u put more than 6 characters in that string? will the program automatically cut off the extra part?
