Re: Should I buy this?
PLEASE DON"T BUY THIS FOR YOUR ASUS MOBO !!!!!!!!!!!
Realy, lets tell you my story , I ordered an ASUS A8N-SLI , 4000+ cpu, some vid card and 2Gig of low latency memory .
Started system up, BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR , Ok, no prob, lets flash the BIOS , BIOS fails to flash, can't write to BIOS and bla bla bla.
Send MOBO back to shop, they could flash the BIOS (I am thinking, WTF) .
MOBO returns to me , mount it in, start system up , nothing happens, all fans are spinning , but no beep and nothing on the monitor , I am like I'M going to kill those suckers at the shop.
Started to search and search and search, and have found many many many stuff about ASUS MOBO's and low latency memory.
I put normal latency in the system, system works like a charm !!!
I check the LOW latency RAM I got in someone else his PC, works like a cherm, but won't work for a bit in my ASUS MOBO.
This is also the reason why I could not flash my BIOS, because your RAM is used for flashing your BIOS (the reason why you may not have a powerfail). and the store did (they used normal latency ram to flash the bios) .
And further on the net, tons of problems with ASUS mobo's having serious problems with low latency RAM, some work fine with it, but many don't start up, crash, go unstable, ....
It's a but in the ASUS MOBO's in about half there series (A8N-SLI, normal, deluxe and premium) , even upgrading to the latest BIOS won't help in most cases.
Also ASUS is in complete denie, many reports of suport go to there, but never an answer, also in there BIOS updates, there is nowhere something mentioned about solving this problem, and some mobo's have it and some don't , meaning you take a risk , there is a big chance you won't have any problems, but there is also a chance you do going to get big problems .
And FYI , low latency ram won't give you a big performance hit, only and maybe like 1 FPS more or something, low latency RAM is only good if you want to OC
SO, my answer is long, but I hope I will help you in the good direction.Comment

Re: Should I buy this?
Wow the price of that ram went up, glad i bought it on newegg for about $240. I also sold my old ram so I ended up getting it for about $100.
Anyways, this is the best ram i have ever used or owned. Definately worth the money. IMO its the best PC3200 ram you can buy.Comment
