upgraded graphics card, now bf2 wont run

so, i upgraded from a 5600 ultra to a ati x800xl and reinstalled bf2 and updated the patch, now when i try to run it it gets to right before it says "ea games" and crashes to the desktop. i uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing. updated my ati drivers, nothing, help please. very frustrating.

Does this happen with any other graphics intense games? (Doom3, HalfLife 2..)

Did you delete all of your BF2 files in My Documents? i.e. all profiles and cache

O think this will be the solution, BF2 saves all your settings, also cid card specifications and crap, BF2 is probably loading some stuff for your old card and then comes in trouble because the old card is gone and you have a totaly other card

No you see the solution is this. You probably didn't clean the drivers before installing the new card, causing a conflict, which in turn causes the game to crash.

See the stickied post in the hardware forum about graphics cards drivers and utilities. It should solve your problems.

i had the same problem but befoe cleaning with driver cleander go to add or remove programs and actually remove the driver there then use the cleaner.

you realy should do a reformatt of the computer when switching between nvidia and ati cards
