Annoying Problem... just occured recently!

Well I'm a college student, and since college began in September, I hardly played BF2. Well recently, I started playing it again to relieve some stress.

I noticed that my characted seems to always sprint when I press W. Sometimes he doesn't sprint, but sometimes he sprints on his own! There are times when he sprints, stops, sprints, stops very rapidly. What's causing this??? I went to each control configuration and reset all to default, but that didn't help. I went as far as unplugging the joystick off the computer.. didn't help either!

My system is:

Intel P4 2.80Ghz with Hyperthreading
1024MB RAM
Only 700MB left on my C:\ drive lol
Sound Blaster Live 5.1

The game runs smoothly, except for this sprinting problem.
I always make sure I don't have any applications running when I play, other than my virus scanner, firewall etc..).

Note that this never used to happen before! It did this before I updated to the latest version, and updating to the latest version still didn't fix the problem! Any ideas?

I know that when you double-tap W, you sprint. That is likely your problem. If it's doing it on its own, I'm not sure how to help. Maybe you have a really sensitive keyboard.

I tried setting the keyboard rate slower and it didn't help with the problem! Anyone else?

I believe there's an option to turn off the double tap sprint thing in the game options.
Failing in that, you might try borrowing a buddiy's keyboard to test with then consiter getting a new one if the behaviour stops.

It sounds to me like your keyboard is giving you a "double bounce"... either that or there's just too much caffine in your system!

Set it so that left shift is your run key. And take the double tap W off, if you can. But i don't know about your keyboard...
