Community Observation: More thinking less whining needed!

Ok, I haven't been 'round here for very long and I'm sure I'm going to get some heat for making this thread... however, I think it's well worth bringing the issue to the table.

There is altogether WAY too much whining going on without enough thinking. That's a gross over generalization and I defiantly feel there are some bright folks around here that bring a lot of usefulness to these forums, but they are dramatically overshadowed by the "Whaaaa, this all sucks because I don't like (insert complaint here) and Eff you all if you don't agree with me" type crap.

If you've got a beef, fine. There's think that irk me too (most notably the subject matter of this thread). How about you bring up the issue in a logical manner without all the b!tching? Be prepared to discuss it. Come up with solutions. Make suggestions. Acknowledge that not everyone is going to share your opinion.

I donno. Maybe it's because this game has a very cross market appeal. It seem to draw in lots of folks from various genres and age groups.

Thoughts? Opinions? Flames?

Totally agree with you gimp. too much whining , not enough good stuff. Much prefer to read a good laugh thread and tactics etc than some spotty teenager whining about being owned by APCS all day.

Still, tis life and its full of whining idiots!

Actually, if you notice, I laid out logical points about why I feel the way I do. I didn't say "you all suck and need to die because you don't agree with me".

Further, there's a point to this thread... to bring the subject up for discussion and hopefully increase awareness about the difference between good informational post and spaztic whining.

i have seen some rather laughable things people post that really are just things that have no point. I consider that whining, but some things like, bugs in the game that need to be fixed, glitches, hacks, and other things that do affect the gameplay I don't see as whining. Making a topic about how that darn chopper keeps killing you and rant rant rant...ok thats a bit much, but making one about how that same chopper couldn't be hit with 3 different AA sites and a mobile AA firing at it because of crappy AA, I can see that.

I'm not saying that complaining it bad. I'm saying that it's pointless to go off when you're not willing to look at deeper issues.

A perfect example is mine TKs. There's plenty of folks bemoaning that when you place a mine and someone on your team hits it, you get nailed for a TK. I've seen more than a few screams of "get rid of mine TKs!!". The problem is that if you were to *think* about what that would mean, you could see how very quickly mines would become the ultimate grieffer weapon.

Then there's other issues like dealing with helocopters. Rather than rant about how much they suck, how about some discusion on how to deal with them? There's no element in BF2 that I've seen that can really be called overpowered. The balance is very tight.

What galls me the most is when I (or others) put some time and thought into a well put together post only to see it burried in countless "kiddy" posts!

Another annoying trait I've noticed 'round these parts.
It seems that very few people actually read any posts beyond the first and the last before hitting that magical reply button.
More often than not, they end up repeating the same mistakes that have already been made a couple times in the thread.

I won't get into the rampent illiteracy...
My spelling sucks. I'm fully aware of that fact.

Look up... look waaaaay up (about 2 posts above your first) and you'll see that not only was the comment made, but I was expecting and adressed it already.

There is no irony involved, because there's no whining about whining going on.
It's called a discussion.

I read that post. As to your having a discussion, I have no problem with that. That's what these boards are for. Please remember though that it's a very thin line between discussion and whining and one person will think it's the former when another will think it's the latter. That IS my point and yes I think the irony comment does apply.

In any event, please continue your discussion. I didn't mean to become the focus of it. Just to make a minor observation.

The sad thing is, for basically every logical post in a thread that has a decent discussion going on, there's 3 or more posts saying "OMG WTF YOU TARD! hahayou r lame i bet u look stupid in next post! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: " Even if you do get a discussion going besides "I died from a gun, so the shooter hacks." or "So and so used a vehicle...ban them please.", people still manage to depreciate the discussion through foolishness.
