    Modding

    I have gotten gmax. Read some tutorials and know most of the basic commands in gmax. What should I start off making that is pretty simple?

          right, unless you've got an idea for a mod, just mess around.

          Pick a gun or item you like and would like to model and model it. Make it a hard one for yourself, and look at tutorials. Learn more by messing around - "Oh heck that shouldn't have happened", that happens a lot and is good, as you are learning.
