  • Odd Little Problem

This is my first post here. So please bear with me.
I just upgraded my computer slightly.
Did clean install of Windows XP Pro and BF2:1.03
My new video card runs at about 72-73C under load and stock cooling.
My CPU runs at about 54-55C under load with stock cooling.
As Far as I can tell these numbers are okay under BF2 or anything else.

Now, every once in a while, when I'm playing BF2, the computer will switch to desktop by itself. BF2 will still be running. So, I can Alt-Tab back into BF2 and continue playing. It's is really only a nuisance when I'm in the process of Killing someone, driving or aiming.

Any ideas on what may be causing this?

    Raider29 out.

Check to see if you're running anything in the background like Norton or something like that.

There are some programs like the java updater and the norton announcement window that will minimize full screen applications

I get that On the server selcetion screen its norton antivirus that does it. Try ending the task on the taskmanager.

No Spyware installed and Norton Anitvirus not installed.
McAfee Anit virus is installed but it happens even though I exit out of it before starting BF2.

          Thanks for the quick replies

Then close as many background processes as you can.

Bring up Task Manager and close anything that isn't listed under 'System' or 'Network Service'.

May sound way too simple but make sure you're not hitting the
"windows" key right next to the ctrl key.
I'm not afraid to say I've been killed many times this way in a firefight.

This has nothing to do with your computer, or at least it shouldn't. Usually it's the servers' fault. I would try finding some good servers that do not do this. If it continues, say so.
