Are Trackball Mice Good For Gaming?

Well i got this trackball and im not going to test it before i get some feed back. What do you think?

you move a ball thats on top and not the whole mice.

i wouldent think so, looking around could be tuff, but like all things you could get used to it.

some people swear by them. I had a friend that was awesome at UT and he only used trackballs. Turning is actually faster with a trackball becuase you can just spin the ball (like those arcade golf games). Not a fan though.

I use a trackball and they absolutly rock. Fast and precise cursor movement. And with mine, all I use is my thumb. Really damn nice.

I use a thumb operated trackball as well, I can spin around pretty quick, I'm accurate and deadly. Moving my whole hand vs. moving just my thumb is a no brainer to me. I've used this thing for years and years and bring it with me to friends' houses because I can't stand mice. I have never once considered it a disadvantage.

I used a trackball, I highly recommend them. Once you get used to them, they're a breeze to use. Mine has a ball about the size of a golfball and has dots on it that are tracked by a laser, so it's pretty dang accurate. And hey, no rollers to get caught up or anything, very smooth.

its good if u plan on only flying... it is sensitive and has great feedback when turning and makes split second decisions easily. but i would never use if for ground fighting

someone makes a combo trackball and optical mouse, the track ball is just a small one right by the thub, i think microsoft mite make it, not sure tho, seems that would have the advantage of both

I dont like the ones that have the ball at your index finger. I've tried the ones that have the ball at your thumb (like the one at the bottom of your link) and prefer those over the other. I still prefer my mouse over a trackball, although it does make since that they would be great for flying.
