    New Idea

Before flaming me or anything, i thought of an idea back from Desert Combat to solve the 203 problem. I know 203's are good infantry weapons, but the bunny hopping stuff is pretty stupid. I remembered in Desert combat they had iron sights for the 203 launchers. So i thought if they made the 203 have no crosshair and only the iron sights, it'd be used better and would solve the bunny hopping problem with it because the soldier would be in his "tactical" walk mode.

Let me know what you guys think.

No offence, but I think that's perty weak.

'Nade launchin bunny whores don't need cross hairs. They work best at point blank anyway. By removing the crosshairs, you'd be punishing the players that use it in a "legit" way, ie longer ranger indirect fire.

I think the most simple way to solve the issue is to make jumping require sprint energy. Thus, you jump a couple time's 'n yer stuck. It's also a "realistic" solution. How many times can you leap 3 feet in the air in a row?

sounds fine to me. I am tired of being killed by guys with 203's standing 5 ft away from me and killing me without even scratching them. if it forced you into the iron sight or something, it would be a lot harder to hit people really close to you

        Other solutions:
Simply make it impossible to fire the weapon if you are in the air.
Give the weapon a minimum firing distance (again, like in real life). If the 'nade doesn't travel a certain distance, it goes BOUNCE instead of BOOM.

they would still have iron sights to use instead of the crosshair, plus then it'd take a little more skill to use.

It would NOT be harder to use at point blank range. That's where people have a beef with the weapon.
At 15 feet, you don't need any kind of sight or crosshair in order to thunk a nade into the ground at someone's feet.

It's a nice try, kiddo, but it wouldn't help in the slightest with the actuall issue. Ya'd just annoy more people.

ok 'kiddo', making it not fire in the air doesn't solve a person just running up and firing. It definatly needs an arming distance like 25 meters or something like the real weapon does. If you've played the old desert combat mod they had an iron sight for grenade launchers, and they were never really a problem. I'm not sure if thats because they had a higher splash damage or what.

Just for the sake of argument, snoop this page for more info on the way the real things work: http://science.howstuffworks.com/grenade3.htm

The no-fire-in-the-air idea was just a toss off. I don't much like it either. Increased splash wouldn't help 'cause it's would just be easier to wrack up kills with.

Yeah, I think the best move is to take a page from the real world and make it require a fixed distance before going boom. Since that's a little tricky to code, you can fudge it by making it arm after a half second. That doesn't sound like much, but at the rate those things travel, that's plenty of time to get the desired effect... Ie: miss, bounce back, and kill the guy that shot it.

The exact delay would have to be carfully played with and much tested.

I was playing DC yesterday, and they have both. However, in DC the 203 is much weaker.

I just want the arming distance. It solves all the problems with the m203, not the bunny hopping, but I can cope with that.

Making it not fire in the air would have solved part of the problem. The reason they can fire point blank is when they jump and shoot they get out of the blast radius. If they werent able to jump, they would have to fire farther back or risk getting killed. The only problem is that this would affect other classes too much. What if you were trying to jump over a ledge and shoot the enemy crouching behind it? Wouldnt be able to.
