There is a hack to allow a server to run 128 players. See http://www.forumplanet.com/planetbat...20&tid=1766723 . I don't know if anyone actually runs a server that uses it.

Hahaha 128 man server you thats got to be joke. I've seen severs with 64 players 100 mbit connections and they cant handle it. Wow 128 ppl with a ping of over 100 hahahah LAGGGGGGG.

100mbit = 12000kbps actual upload speed.

So with 128 players thats nearly 100k each, which is more than enough, way more in fact.

what happened was none of you guys want to join to test his server! he posted here a while back asking for ppl to join his server and see if it can handle 128 players. sadly, few were interested.

the new mappack + 128 players = uber fun! strike at abu dabhi would be fun with 128 players!

the only reason 128 players would suck is that the maps aren’t made to balance 128 players.

but if the server is good and custom maps made for 128 players, I don't know why these people won't support it.
FPS are slowly headed towards MMOFPS. This shouldn't come to a surprise nor be considered bad. I say I'd love to be part of the first in the tests for massive Battle-worlds. You could effectively make room(open spaces and closed urban grounds) to have both vehicle whores(only uses vehicles in maps) and special forces(infantry whiners) built into one map that size.

yer but they dont just host one server, most of the time more than 3 on the big 100mbit.
