Where are the engines on the Aircraft Carrier USS Essex?

Anyone noticed that the USS Essex doesn't have an engine compartment? Perhaps that why ships in BF2 are stationary

That technology isnt available yet... The carrier was dropped into the water by 215 blackhawks and 100 chinooks. This is the truth.

It got stripped from the game like half of the other features because EA thought it would require more then 3 brain cells to operate it if it had engines...so they made DICE remove it.

          1. lag
          2. smacktard may move it to outbound area. DC removed ablity to move carrier in Urban Siege by COMMUNITY REQUEST.

Actually if you had ever played one of the prequels in the seris you would have realised on the DC mod they had a movable carrier and it just meant that if it moved the whole game would lag also the enemy tended to get in it and drive it off the map.

Congratulations on making false assumptions. Have a cookie. Also, way to go on not having a sense of humor.

The reason I got BF1942 was solely for Desert Combat. I know very well what happened with the ships in the game and have seen boatloads (literally) of people go no-more due to one steering out of bounds. The lag wasn't always a huge issue with me, but I know it exists and boats obviously didn't help anything. I played Midway a lot as I liked the Naval warfare aspect of the game, and the lag was slim to none. People might have glitched across the deck here and there, but that was partly by fault of the game not liking people being on moving objects as well. I imagine the same would happen in BF2 as well.

I would like to have naval battles in BF2.. This is one feature that I really miss.

you guys dont know jack about modern naval combat. modern naval vessels dont have engines, they have sails.

and the ships that are more advanced than sails have coal fired steam engines :)

Much easier to walk or take off on the carrier when some nub isnt driving it 30mph towards the shore so we can see it listed 20 degrees to its side... leave 'em stationary. I can think of many more important vehicles from DC to bring over that would have a more positive effect on the game:

                      1. the moped
                      2. the 4 seater car
                      3. littlebirds

                      :)

actualy it do have an engine compartiment.

When you walk on the back on the boat deck and jump into the water, you will notice you walk on solid floor, this is a part of the engine compartiment, the rest is more in to the ship .
And those ships don't run with engines, but are driven by nuke power.

Chock up 1 point to that noob that don't know jack about naval propulsion systems.

The only ships in the US Navy with nuclear power are the Nimitz class, and Enterprise class aircraft carriers.

The ship in the game is a LHD Wasp class amphibious assault ship. Powered by two boilers and two steam turbines in real life.

What I want is for the LHD's to have LCACs (landing craft air cushion) on board. And a larger landing craft well like in real life. So that basically the ship has a couple of M1's, LAV's, and Humvee's in the hold, that you can put them onboard one of the LCAC's, and make a beach assault with them.

can you imagine how freaking AWESOME it would be if the carrier was driveable ... SEEEFUGGINSSSWEEET! then again we would get complaints because of carrier whores!
