    Wireless gaming

My connection speed is 2166.8 Kbps according to cnet.com using my wireless card (at 9:30 pm i.e., good gaming time). Other websites gave me lower speeds (like 1.2 megabits per sec).

Are these speeds good enough for online BF2?

    Thank you in advance.

YEa they are but Wireless inst the best way to go, you will probably get alot of 'problems with your connection'. Or atleast thats what I got when I used wirless along time ago.

Damn, my wireless connection averages only about 742.4kbps

          I must upgrade! Any ideas?

Wireless here, never ever had a problem. Always maintain pings around 25-30 on comcast/ea/popular servers.

You bandwith is not as important in BF2 as your ping is..... I have DU meter running and when I quit BF2 it shows I am maybe using 125k of bandwith up and down

Ping some servers and see what your ping is on wireless. that is what is important

i have wireless to, I HATE IT!!!!!!

The only ethernet port there is in my house is in my parents closet and i cant drag a 100 foot cable from the modem to my computer because my parents wont let me. I always get "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONNECTION".

I hate it when it happens, especially when i am in first place. Then is says "YOUR CONNECTION HAS BEEN LOST" in the main menu.

I would definetly use ethetnet but unfortanetly i cant =(

I would recommened not to use wireless you will end up breaking things in your house if you get mad easily.

                  Re: Wireless gaming

I use a wireless connection and the only time I see the "There is a problem with your connection" message is when the router resets or the server crashes, in other words only what would happen on a wired connection.

Although I will be changing to a wired connection tomorrow as the wireless card is being used elsewhere, not because there's a problem with it.

Wireless is random, its going through the air not anything solid so theres bound to be problems. I had big problems playing on wireless when its was raining outside. No Joke. Everytime it would rain I'd get a poor connection . Now I use ethernet, no problems now.

I have wireless to, my pings are great, sometimes I do get "there is a problem with your connection" but I think this would be the same if I had A wire on my PC

                          Re: Wireless gaming

Wireless works in pulses rather than a constant stream like having a wire this means you will have lag spikes or a ping that isn't constant also you will probbaly get connection problems due to this.

Yep wireless is **** for gaming because of latency.

Even if someone brought out a gigabit wireless protocol tommorow it would still be **** for gaming because you can't make wireless constant they way you can with good old RJ45 cable :)

I used to use wireless but I would always lose my BF2 connection when someone turned on the microwave. Other internet activity wasn't affected, just BF2. Now I have a cable into the router.
