No incetives with patch 1.03

When I installed 1.03 and played on a ranked server, I got 3 promotions in a row (I was alread corporal) and 3 more weapon unlocks. Now the only gun I dont have is the G3 unlock.
Before I played BF2 quite a lot, because I wanted to get the M95, as well as the medic/spec ops weapons. Now that I have basically all weapons, I dont feel such an incentive to play. Also now you see lots of other people have most unlocked guns, whilst before if you were a higher rank you had the "privilege" of having the better gun, for instance when I unlocked the jackhammer I had NEVER seen any1 with it before. Now every1 is going around with jackhammer,pkm, m95 etc.....

I would suggest something, but I can't be bothered trying to read that block of poorly formatted text.

Use a spellchecker on your next created thread. Honestly, people will care more about what you say if you do.

And it never hurts to use your enter key to make things called paragraphs.

I don't play on ranked servers anymore and so couldn't give a damn.

And when I did, points, badges, weapons were never an incentive anyhow. Getting better and learning from others always was.

I think the keyword here is Fun, if you're not having fun playing the game then it's time to move on. If however you still enjoy the game (for whatever reason) then good for you and enjoy.

I don't play for ranks, medals, points, unlocks and I don't care that all of a sudden everyone has the PKM or the DAO, and that everyone is now ranked as a Sergeant.

FUN is the word of the day :)

If you're into levelling up and getting upgrades and feeling special for over-commitment on a computer game, may I suggest one of the many MMORPGs out there like World of Warcraft? Play the game cause its fun dammit!

Upgraded ranking system is fine, rewards players with an average level of commitment (not obsessive), and has levelled the playing field in terms weapons upgrades. Get over it, how many other online FPS's even have a ranking system?

Lucky I scraped in with 6.

Its a doubled edged sword isn't it. Try and do something short and succinct and you're likely to get flamed as you can't write enough to back up your claim. Go too long and people switch off and dont read.

It is not that I dont find the game fun anymore, just I thought the reward of weapon unlocks in ranked servers was a nice part of the game. I still enjoy it though.
Referring to "MackthenknifeAU"s remarks; I can write good English( I have an A in A-level English) when I want to, and yes I do know what paragraphs are. I obviously did not realise that spelling and word formatting was such a cause of major concern in a PC games forum...

I find it odd that he picked on your spelling and grammar. Frankly, your post didn't phase me at all and I EASILY get shake my head at the pathetic use of the English language on this forum. Frankly, I am astonished that he picked on your post considering it is better than 95% of the posts on the forum. :)

But on to your point. Frankly, the game has become a lot MORE fun to me since the unlocks. I no longer worry about trying to get points to get the unlocks, I now focus on helping my team and having fun. Before it was crazy that I would have had to play for god knows how many hours just to get 3 unlocks. I like the way it is set up now because I am less concerned with points and more concerned with winning and having fun.

definitely, the old ranking system only was a way to show who had much time , it's not as if the ranking system is any indication of skill anyway.

Statpadding and other cheap tactics for days on end to get ranks and unlocks.. that was about it.

I am glad the requirements got lowered, though maybe it went a bit overboard in the other direction, I was hoping for one, maybe two unlocks, and got three.. some people got four.

Still, I prefer too much over too little :)
