I know this is hard for you to fathom, but I think adding the element of night with all of it's complications adds something to the current game. Just looking at the shots with the nightvision goggles is enough to convince me this is worth watching. Notice that I'm not saying that the game will be a success. That has yet to be determined. And unlike you, I'm willing to wait and see. You've already made up your mind because you've decided that all products that come out of EA are crap. Fine. But don't ask me to be as narrow minded. Thanks.

Adding the element of night? There's nothing to "add" into the game, it's already in the game code and requires little effort to add in. Night vission goggles? Sounds more like they're taking what was going to be the SIMRAD and adding a green overlay to the HUD. That's not what I call expanding or adding. It's what I call hiding the truth to weasle more money out of people for something they have already paid for.

I'm not saying it will be a success either. And I agree, it's yet to be determined. I am saying it will be less popular than most mods, and be less indepth as well. Now, explain this "wait and see". You are already passing your own judgement by saying you think the features they are finally using in the game engine are worth something and saying you are going to get it. How long are you going to wait though? Are you going to pre-order even? Or are you going to obtain a copy before purchasing through obscure means as you said, and basically tell everyone to pirate it instead? The "wait and see" element is there, otherwise I would have pre-ordered with completely blind and foolish faith. I admit, I pre-ordered BF2. However, I will not make the same mistake twice with this particular combination of publisher and developer until I am proven they can RELEASE quality products, not release a poor quality game and patch it over the course of a year or two, all the while trying to con you out of more money to purchase features you already have in the original game to begin with.

Yeah, I think it's narrow minded to think that "everything will suck" just because you don't like a line of computer games. That's a very negative attitude. An open minded position would be to stay objective about it until you've actually gotten your hands on the game and then give your OPINION. It's fine to talk about trends. But that's not what either of you have done. You state absolutes. Which is of course, ridiculous in this context since none of us have seen the game. Trends are fine. So I'll go out on a limb and predict, given the trend, that the game will have bugs. In fact, you can bank on it.

An open minded position I had. This was before the release of Battlefield 2. I have given my opinion on this game, and the expansion is being made out of the same game engine, just like any other mod out there, except with less content. The open minded stance was lost after we were promised a lot, just like we are being promised with Special Forces, yet all that was deleivered was empty promises and a buggy game. THIS, yes, is an absolute. This also, is a trend. It's not difficult to extrapolate this trend into the expansion. We have SEEN the game, there have been plenty of expansion pack preview screenshots and videos. EA is making sure of that, incase you couldn't tell. They are going to hype this just as much as they did Battlefield 2, regardless of what is actually on the CD's/DVD when it's released, and regardless of if they have to break promises to do it.

I too played 1942. If you want me to add that factor to the trends, 1942 was a great game. It also worked and still does work better than BF2. The expansions for BF1942 weren't great successes, and mods outshined them easily. Since BF2, with a "new" engine and everything else they claim, yet it still has so many bugs and gameplay issues, what do you expect from an expansion pack in that trend? I'll let you answer.

So, you are suggesting people make generalized comments, without pointing out specific issues one by one and refuting such points? It's forming a logical arguement, and it's not showing anyone as a "tard". It's very coherent, and it's an effective way of organizing thoughts so both the author and readers can understand what is going on. You could learn a lot from doing that.

Calling people tards and ignorant? And then you try to compare men and children in a generalized statement about learning from mistakes. You don't even given a reasonable mistake to learn from, you just throw it out there and give us the ablity to interpret you however we wish. I will say this though, yes "men", or at least reasonable people, learn from mistakes. And "children", or foolish people, deny them. In saying that, I have learned from my mistake of purchasing a half-done game, and I am applying what I have learned in going against Special Forces and any other expansion as my way of saying either EA/DICE gets their act together, or they won't make any profit from me until they release games. It's not a difficult concept, and again, the only reason such a thing won't work is if people are blind and don't see the impacts it can have. That's as blunt as I can be, if you don't see that boycotts work and do send messages, then I can't convince you as you're missing the entire point of it. I however will not feel left out one bit when you are playing a buggy "expansion" because I stand firm in my decision, and I don't see anything that I'll be missing out on that I can't get in Battlefield 2 already.

I never pre-order games anymore. NEVER. There is always some local store that has them on the shelves before anyone gets their pre-orders. And the stuff they give you as an incentive is never worth the wait. Until that changes, I'm sticking to this policy.

I also do not promote software piracy. There is not a single piece of pirated software on any of the machines that I use. There are lots of ways to preview games without pirating them. Friends that game are an invaluable resource at your disposal. Bribing them with pizza and beer is a good way to get a little test drive time.
