Ziplines don't even matter, and I wouldn't be suprised if a mod couldn't code it with existing code and objects in BF2 at present. New vehicles? Please. If the majority of vehicles being a jetski, 4-wheeler, and a truck that is already in the BF2 code minus it's hud, is something for you to pay $50 for, you either have no concept of value, or are a spoiled rich person. Not trying to be offensive, but if you say you want to spend $50 on all of this, you obviously are not catching either the value of said money or the quality of said mod. (it's not expanding anything, sorry, I see no reason it should be called an expansion pack except that EA names things that because they want to take advantage of people)
At the moment, I'm on Folgers Classic Roast. Thanks for asking.

I know this is hard for you to fathom, but I think adding the element of night with all of it's complications adds something to the current game. Just looking at the shots with the nightvision goggles is enough to convince me this is worth watching. Notice that I'm not saying that the game will be a success. That has yet to be determined. And unlike you, I'm willing to wait and see. You've already made up your mind because you've decided that all products that come out of EA are crap. Fine. But don't ask me to be as narrow minded. Thanks.

hehehe ass variable you couldnt fight your way outta a wet paper bag. you should have realized when you posted you absolutely uninformed opinion that you would be cut down to size in minutes....

and may i add that itemizing a man's post in order to rebut it is pretty pathetic. its childilsh and really works to stand you out as a tard. try forming a coherent argument next time and perhaps you MAY get respect

hahahaha and even if half the Battlefield 2 population didn't buy SF it would make ABSOLUTELY no difference. if you had taken the time to do some research before swimming out to the deep end you might of realized that PC games comprises less than 15% of EA's profits. in fact, the majority of research and development over the next financial year is aimed at the next gen console market... As for Dice - you may also have read examples of EA dumping companies for less and WINNING contractual battles in court. FFS just pick up their prospectus and you will find out how far up EA has PC games on their list... do you still think your little tiny boycott on the fringe of their industry is really going to make them care... or do you now realize how utterly stupid what your proposing really is... i guess only your next post will show how ignorant you really are - a man learns from his mistakes... only a child denies them

look - i suggest you print out a flyer and give it out to all the friends you dont have - thats about how much pull you have in this world and this forum...

        Re: Expansion pack?

i think it looks good to me judging by the video it is basically exactly the same as bf2 only with different vehicles and such.

But i don't see a problem with that, its extra stuff and so its worth getting :)

use your own judgement and make your own decision about buying the game. but, as a bit of advice, wait before you buy it. there will be bugs in the first release.

Hopefully the number of bugs will be significantly less since it's basically a reskinning of the current game. In other words, the engine itself has endured some hardening since it was released. Yes, I know, not enough. But hopefully people won't have the same issues at release with things like graphics cards etc. You can't tell anything from a pre-Alpha demo.

I itemize because everyone includes about 10 different ideas in each of their posts, so I reply to each idea in turn - it makes correlating the points easier. It also holds people like you accountable for every little shred of nonsense you try to sneak in.

I can't comment on the quality of EA's console games, but 15% is a huge chunk of change. To say EA doesn't care about the PC market because their profits from it amount to 15% is a little naive. But we're not talking about a huge, crippling hit to EA.

We're talking about getting someone inside EA, someone whose success is measured in dollars and who has a voice that can induce a little change, to notice that there's a problem.

Somewhere inside EA is a VP or Director who is in charge of PC market titles, and who is accountable for selling games. We have a pretty good chance of getting that person's attention if we give them something they can notice. Then all of the angry forum posts, emails, complaints etc. won't seem quite so trivial, unrelated, or easy to ignore.

If all else fails, at least I won't be wasting my money on a sub-optimal product that doesn't yield must value, or supporting a company that I don't agree with philosophically.

This is why exactly why I itemize.

I realize that I'm doing what I want to do, based on the situation at hand. Others will read these discussions and make their own choices. That's all there is to it.

                Yikes, sorry about the Folgers.

Many of us have dealt with the BF series since 1942, and at this point it's not too far-fetched to make some assumptions about the quality of the expansion based on past experiences. You're not at that stage yet, and that's fine. But it's not necessarily "narrow-minded" to predict behavior using a trend.

On another note, let me just float this past you:

BF2: Daytime + No Nightvision = everyone can see everyone
BF2:SF: Night-time + Nightvision = everyone can see everyone, in green

That doesn't seem very substantial from a gameplay standpoint. It seems more like a gimmick.

Hey, I'm right there with you. I've been playing BF1942 since '03 and still play it. Great game. So what trend were we talking about again? LOL.

Yeah, I think it's narrow minded to think that "everything will suck" just because you don't like a line of computer games. That's a very negative attitude. An open minded position would be to stay objective about it until you've actually gotten your hands on the game and then give your OPINION. It's fine to talk about trends. But that's not what either of you have done. You state absolutes. Which is of course, ridiculous in this context since none of us have seen the game. Trends are fine. So I'll go out on a limb and predict, given the trend, that the game will have bugs. In fact, you can bank on it.

Now, as far as your day and night question, let me say this (and this is the crux of my argument all along). IT DEPENDS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION. I can imagine an implementation of this that would be very cool. But if it comes out the way you are predicting, then yeah, it won't be that great. But what if they actually implement a very short field of vision with the goggles on? What if, you can see long distances but just make out dark and light in the dark, but with the goggles on, you can only see short distances in green (with little or no peripheral vision)? See, it depends. It also depends on what the Commander can do. Personally, I'd like to see a server option in this expansion that allows server admins to turn off Commander Mode. How cool would that be ... in the dark ... low vis ... you can be seen from miles away with your goggles on ... must only use them at the right times .... That would be a cool game. Now lets see if they build it right.

                    Re: Expansion pack?

I Agree w/ you Variable. I'm tired of wasting my money. You know what I'm most upset about? NO COOP SUPPORT. I dont feel like wasting my time playing conquest, I still do play but..........At the end of my day I just wanna shoot stuff. The Bot support in this game is amazing to me, and sometimes more challenging and fun at the same time. Promises, promises. Thats all I've heard from them, and yet Mod teams are waiting in the wings for tools that are just never released.

If a huge car company did this this sorta marketing, i can assure you that they wouldn't be huge anymore. "The new Ford Mustang being released in Nov!" "Preorder Now!" Then when they deliver it to you, you have to put the engine together yourself and it only has one seat. "Ford promises to bring you the other seats when there ready, please be patient!" The next thing you know- "The new Ford Mustang available for preorder in February" And you still havent gotten your seats yet!

It has been all downhill since 1942 That's the trend.

The problem with your stance is that we have to buy every individual game in order to judge on its merits, when (at this point) there are some pandemic issues and practices that have gone into the entire BF franchise.

Honestly, once you've given a company your money and validated their product strategy, it's a little too late to go activist. You've already told them that you like what they're doing, which just goes to support how they're doing it.

As for the nightvision, look at the screenshots and the movies.

Many of us have been around gaming for a long time, and at this point it's not too far-fetched to make some assumptions about our ability to gain access to the media before buying. You're not at that stage yet, and that's fine.

Maybe I have the delivery truck schedules and I'm planning a sting. You never know.

Seriously though, I have enough gamer friends that someone usually has a copy. If not, then I'll buy it and post my comments here when it comes out. If it sucks, I'll do the right thing and warn other potential buyers. If it's great, I'll do the same.
