who died and made you commander - if you want to buy it - get it
dont listen to somone with a chip on their shoulder - listen to people who actually give you reasons rather than A$$HATS like this

if you are really that keen to try something new in bf2 i hate to say it but you will probably end up buying this expansion - i have heard of issues with it but it is NOT MY PLACE TO PASS JUDGEMENT as neither i nor any1else here has witnessed the final gold version
        - i really suggest you read that review from holland (dutch) b4 doing so.... its translated somewhere around here... listen to some people who have actually played it...

yes boys it looks like we have another weener with SF

look i am all for a boycott of EA its just that the whole concept is inconcievable - at the end of the day you would end up playing nothing

lets face it EA does hold a form of monopoly over the gaming industry...
(FYI i think it will be a horribly buggy piece of crap pushed out b4 xmas... but unfortunately there is NOTHING of any notable interest coming out b4 feb 2006 so all i can say is screw sitting on my a$$ flipping shrimp for chrissie... i will probably be having a go at this :shakehead )

After reading that BF2:SF preview, I thinking waiting a month or so would definately be a good idea.

doesnt matter what a few people post on forums, 1000s of people will still go out and buy the game on release day. Even lots of the same people who post things like "Dont buy it" "im not buying it" bla bla bla...

Im going to get it the day it comes out like I did for BF2. I like the game, I want new RANKED maps, teams, awards - I hope.

And if it does have bugs, It might be good for us, Might be bad.

                There are plenty of reasons:

                1) BF 2 has problems that should've been fixed before its release, but we're still dealing with them now. You've paid for a sub-par product, and now you want to pay the same company again? Way to send the right message.

                2) There are already Mods coming out, such as Project Reality (within weeks now), that alter the game enough to make it interesting again. If anything, the smaller mini-mods keep us busy until the bigger Mods arrive. If you pay for SF, you're paying for the same kind of things that Mods will bring, except that SF won't be as thorough, community-driven, or well-supported.

                3) BF:SF isn't an EXPANSION at all. It does nothing to expand the current gameplay, instead it REPLACES it. Can you use the new SF weapons, etc. on the old maps? No. Can you engage in SF gameplay while others engage in regular gameplay? No. SF is a separate game built on 80% of the same stuff as BF 2. If you want a lesson on how expansions should work, look at Planetside and their expansion, Aftershock.

                4) By buying SF you're playing into EA's hands - they figure they can add some new content, not worry about integration, and make a second windfall on a game that they developed a while ago. You are helping cash in on a consumer-punishing product plan. If we have problems with a way a company is doing business, what are we going to do - write our Congressmen? No, we let them know that releasing broken products won't fly around BFland, and we do it by not giving them our money.

Will others buy it? Yes. But who cares? We're talking about doing the right thing, and hurting their sales numbers enough for them to realize that the emails they've received about BF2 being broken aren't just idle complaints that can be silenced with nightvision and grappling hooks.

Finally, of course people will do whatever they want - you seem to think that I'm going to everyone's houses and threatening to break their knees if they buy SF. I'm not.

I am, however, voicing an opinion that differs from yours, so you're going to have to live with it. Anytime you want to make a cogent argument to the contrary, we're all waiting.

That is, unless name-calling is the most you can muster.

yeah, well the problem with dice is that they have all 750,000 lines
in one subroutine.. making the code a monster cluster-f**k.

DICE arent the best programmers in the world, thats for damn sure..
and when you combine EA as publisher... well, you get what we have
today.. buggy game that they dont know , or are incapable, of fixing.

Whoever wrote the server browser in BF2, spent about 5 minutes on it..
                  and said, ALL DONE. pfft.

UT1999 had a better server browser, and its 6.5 years old.

Hey Speedy, I like a lot of your posts. But this one .... what's up? Have you seen the code? Or are you making assumptions based on the number of bugs?

I'm going to assume that you are a software developer based on the comments. So surely you've been asked to release code before it was ready, and sure enough bugs were found? It happens. That's what happens when companies drive delivery dates. And you know what, it's better than the alternative. If we waited for developers to say it's right, we'd be waiting half our lives for the game to come out.

My only complaint against EA is that they are not patching often enough. You guys are right. That server browser is awful. For God's sake, fix it EA.

Yes, and while we are at it, please join my personal revolution against the gas companies. Don't buy gas. Those greedy bastards don't deserve our money. Who's with me?

Also, I'm not a big fan of pidgeons. The crap all over everything. Boycott feeding the pidgeons.

Also, have you ever notices that they never clean the stalls at Major League ball parks? Boycott baseball. Who's with me?

                          Planes crash. They do. Boycott.

Sorry..Var...if you want to make a stand JOIN GREENPEACE.

In theory, I agree with what you're saying, but the reality is your message will get lost. Buy the game, judge the game and if you really want to make a stand...send them a letter and CCICE and EA'S executive commitee.

I'm buying SF...with the hope the funds raised from my purchase will be put to good use....a PATCh hehe.
