    To anyone who is commander...

    Lets get this straight..

Your teammates DO NOT need to request a UAV.

You should be providing them at will.. and they should be constant.

Also, dont just UAV yourself all game.. thats just lame.

If your assets (uav trailer, artillery, scan sat) are damaged...
DROP SUPPLIES ON THEM..NOT JUST CLOSE.. but ON THEM..
This means you need to use your zoom on your map, MORONS.

If youre one of these commanders who thinks you dont have to do
anything until someone asks you for a uav, supplies, then you are
mistaken... While the other team has a constant flow of UAVS
we are left in the dark and havent a clue where enemies are, or
    where to go.

USELESS COMMANDERS RUIN MORE GAMES THAN ANY OTHER PROBLEM
    IN BF2...imo.

If EA/DICE had any brains at all they would have fixed the voting in
this game.. mutinys are pointless.. map votes...pointless.

Im sick of useless, or self serving commanders.. 9 out of 10 people
who command my team have no clue what they are supposed to be
doing..so they just help themselves all game...

    rant over.

You know what's amazing? I follow your simple guidelines most of the time, and at this point my teams have almost always won the round. Who'd have thunk? And you get double the points if you win? Bonus.

    My general routine is:

    1. Pick a target.
    2. Nuke from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
    3. Pick two squads and attack.
    4. UAV target.
    5. Drop supplies behind front line often.
    6. Repeat.

I also place myself back where the arty and other assets are. And rather than pull a squad off the front line, I go kill the Spec Ops sob myself. (so if you see me UAV'ing my area, that's why). I do this as a last resort when the supply drops aren't keeping the arty up long enough.

All this, and I still get Mutiny attempts from time to time. Isn't mutiny punishable by death?

I wasnt issuing guidelines.. Im not the best commander in the world..
but I do ok.. and when I am commander.. I help my team with constant
UAVS, SUPPLIES.. I usually do a scan just before the UAV so that I
dont waste the UAV on a empty area..

but for most commanders I get, they are totally useless to my team..
I have went entire games before without a single UAV at my location.

A guy named CommandoGeneral was commanding last night and after
half the game, I asked him why he wasnt doing anything, and he said
I had to request it....... what a crock.

Whats funny is when somebody desperately calls for an artillary strike and you run a scan and there are no enemies within a half a mile of them.

Its true. In fact, the problem is worsen by "higher-ranking people" (who knows they might stat pad to this rank) who simply occupy the commander seat and does nothing for the team. They will even go frag others and boast their ego.

But, they simply fail as a commander. Hope EA can put commander priority to those who are truely capable of working as a commander.

                      Jeez.

When I get outranked as commander to a 12 year old who does nothing for the team, and mutiny votes are coimpletely worthless, is where I draw the line.

Commanders should not be chosen because of rank. They should be chosen due to team score, commander score, and/or defended CP's.

Commanders tend to get bad on the weekends. This is when all the kids are allowed free reign when their parents allow it... :\

If commanders are chosen by ur metheod then how could anyone learn. they would always be ousted by others.
People need to realise that they were new at the game once, I have been playing for a while but i've only just started trying commander. ( i learnt somethings just by reading this thread.)
U r right though, voting of needs to be looked at, but remember its a game, if u can give the commander some advice then do it, none of us just know how to do it all.

Pretty sure thats why the made single player...ya know to practice.....call me crazy though...

To the orginal poster yes the commander should constantly be supplying UAVs...However when the SAT Scan is down and the supplies are out if the commander tells the squad a UAV is availble give the guy a hand and point out where you would like it...

If they based commander requirements on team score that might be a better solution. Sicne if a person has a high team score they are probably more apt to do a good job...IMO

agree with you except the supplies on commander stuff...

plz ask for an engineer first... if no one responds.. THEN you can drop the freaking supplies.... engineers is ****ed enough in this game.. dont take away their job too

Besides.. points for engineers means points for the commanders... you DONT get points for fixing your own stuff

Hey man, I feel your pain. It's freakin' ridiculous that engineers get penalized when some no-talent hack drives over your carefully placed defenses that are out there in the open for all to see. You should lose 0 points, and the offender should be penalized as if they've just fallen off a building and killed themselves.

That said, your suggestion that the Commander not supply his troops is just wrong. Forget points for a minute and consider actually trying to win the round. Which approach is going to help the team more? When you're guys are down there, they've run out of grenades or C4 or whatever, the supplies can turn the tide. Same thing with vehicles. Yes, it would be great if that hero of heros, the engineer, voluntarily left cover and dashed through the bullets to put a wrench on your smoking tanks. But he's hamburger in a few seconds anyways. Much easier to stay where it's safe and let the armor retreat behind the lines to repair and let the Engineer harass the enemy in other ways.

And in case you are counting points, the Commander gets double points for winning. :)

JMHO. I was wrong once before.
