    Re: Dogfighting Tips

You all forgot the most important tip of them all

If your enemy is in a J10 and you are in any other jet, dont bother dogfighting since its basically suicide.

    have fun.

My tip: don't fight fighters with bomber (especially with F-15). You'll lose

Bombing: 2 weeks single player in Operation Cleansweep and you'll do fine.

I agree don't even bother dogfighting in bombers if a plane happens to come in front of you and you lock on then sure fire all your missiles but don't bother chasing him thats not what a bomber is for.

You're correct most of the time, but you'll be surprised the level of experience of some fighter pilots...they don't even juke when you shoot missiles at them, or worst they're using a mouse at low sensitivity.

I say its hit or miss. If you start dogfighting with a fighter or if the fighter constantly gets on your tail then you should communicate with the fight pilot over VOIP and let him know that you have a bogey on your tail - hopefully he'll come to your aid.

I agree it depends on the quality of the fighter pilot. I've seen some noobs that salvo all their missiles as soon as they get a lock. If you're facing an obvious noob pilot then go ahead and dogfight him otherwise run and hide or get your fighter to help.

And it's a bandit. A bogey is an unidentified aircraft that may or may not be hostile.

                Re: Dogfighting Tips

I added these two new tips:
                • Fly outside the map bounds: Make sure you're a medic and you can fly outside the bounds. Do this two or three times during a dogfight and you'll kill the enemy pilot if he's not a medic. If you're in a bomber and both you and your co-pilot are medics you can last longer.
                • Be Anti-tank and steal enemy jet: When trying to steal enemy jets I recommend going Anti-tank since you can hit a jet while its taking off. If you have time to setup you can place C4 on the runway or if you can run and jump to get a C4 on the actual jet you can blow it anytime. Whatever kit you choose make sure to time the respawn of the jet otherwise when they respawn they'll kill you as you're taking off.

                  Re: Dogfighting Tips

Good tips use most of these.

Only problem i'm having is when facing the j10. Great aircraft to fly and you kick some arse in it, but against it with some one who is half decent and you have a fight on your hands.

I try my damndest to not get into a dogfight against the j10, instead switching to high altitude bombing runs instead.

Wake island KDR on US fighter, lucky to be 2:1, with J10 i normally hit between 10 and 20:1 ratios.

Any good tips bar bugging out soon as for taking out the J10?

Wake island is easy. Lure them to battleship and get help from AA. Also you can repair yourself. When you see that plane is no more, start bombaring the runway as people are waiting for plane.

You do indeed heal yourself if you're a medic while in a vehicle.

                        Here's another tip:
                        • Shooting Air-to-Air Missiles without a lock: Yep that's right you can shoot Air-to-Air Missile with no lock if you're at point blank range. You can do this by sneaking up behind the enemy when its over its runway or when its doing a bombing run (many bomber pilots will level out their flight to give their co-pilot's a clear shot). More experienced pilots will be checking their 6 (see above), whenever they are doing any straght-a-ways (where they are most vulnerable to missiles), so this trick won't work on them. Becareful though to dodge the enemy jet's wreckage or you'll be dogfood. I'm still experimenting with shooting Air-to-Air Missiles at range since they arc up at a gentle angle, but haven't perfected the technique. Personally I like shooting the missiles slightly before the lock is locked - that seems to give the best results.

                          • Don't fly over artillery strikes or artillery: If you're directly above an artillery piece when it fires it will kill you (there are actually projectiles that leave the artillery piece). Also flying above an artillery strike, friendly or enemy, can kill you as well.
                          • You don't need to go back to the airfield all the time: The best pilots, the ones that have 30:1 ratio, don't go back to the airfield to restock on ammo all the time...they use their guns. Soft targets like jeeps and anyone in AA or ground defense turrets are easy to kill - if you can't line-up quickly on a box in your reticle then you need to increase the sensitivity.

                            Re: Dogfighting Tips

True, Harmor.. Pretty nice tips there. Just another one to boost what Harmor is saying about not needing a lock when you are at your enemy's 6. Sometimes, you see your enemy pulling up sharply right in front of you. Instinctively, you will also follow him and pull up. Release a missile when you are very near him (let's say directly behind him). The missile is a sure hit, provided your ping is less than 80.

For those who just cannot understand, let me explain again. When the bugger pulls up, all you have to do is to make a slight sharper turn than him. What happens then is, you will appear right behind him (in a sense that you can see his cockpit and his tail fin vertical in front of your face.) When this happens, MISSILE AWAY! The missile would hit him, and if he has already gotten enough damage, he would die. Do not attempt to fire off 2 missiles in this scenario as the 2nd one is quite likely to miss.

Just to add to what one of our friends here have said, "Don't fight with J-10s or you'll lose!" That is absolute tosh. You go play in Dalian Plant, go fly in a JSF, and see the patheticness of the J-10. They are extremely vulnerable at their own airbase, and are very easily shot down.Although they are highly manoeuvreble, all you gotta do is to to shoot your cannons till it stops turning and flies back to the airbase to find its mommy. Then, you slow down and pop behind him and blast him off. If you are lucky, there are many idiots waiting back at the airbase. Fire your cannons on them and get you Aerial Service Ribbon! If you need any more info, email me, or simply post them here.

The only time J-10 can be deadly is when both pilots simply decide to circle around. If you don't do this and simply try other manuevers, whether who will become the victor of the dogfight will depend on the pilot.

You mean lure your team mates into the AA deathtrap to help the other pilot get more kills?
