    maybe it was a bit of lag. He picked up an engineer kit but his avatar wasnt changed in time for you to see an Engineer.

        It could be what you said ^^^^ jaz but i keep bumping into hackers they seem to be getting more and more popular.

            I had it happen to me once, i was sniper. i killed a medic; picked up his kit after the fight. then while i was in medic i killed a spec ops. i switched kits a couple of times not knowing which i wanted to be. i wound up holding the sniper rifle with medpacks. never happened again however
