Often I am on a map and think "crikey we need a commander"

So I check and yep there is no cammnder

I get accepted as commander and the arty has just fired

i.e. some stat farmer using the arty to get kills

Damn it annoys me as on many public servers it means the team ends up with no commander for most of the match - and that is a serious handicap.

Before someone says, dont go on a public server...exactly how many servers are there that are ranked and pbd that are private? NONE.

since 1.03 you don't get the kills from artilery anymore

You don't get tracked kills for art-strikes anymore, but they do still count towards awards.

I was commanding on Wake and desided to use the mid-ships anti-air emplacment to hide in (no one ever uses it anyway and the enemy commander was shellin the hell outta the deck).

After a few artty drops, I got my AA Ribbon.
OOps. I woulda rather have earned it honestly...

My guess is that the guy who used the artilary is a cheater. He is definitly using one of those well-known cheats. You can search the forum to read more about the cheat which enables you to use the arty and supply drop without being a commander.

It happened with me recently many times, I saw several guys using the arty. You cannot have more than two commanders at the same time right? well, I saw three guys using the arty.

Probably that answers your question/concern.

look, I don't want to play commander, because frankly I suck at it. Then maybe I'll be in a tank somewhere kicking ass and need some ammo and repair, but there's no commander, so I'll jump in the co chair, drop myself some supplies, and then just for the hell of it, throw up a UAV and maybe drop an artilery strike, just so it's not totally going to waste, then I resign.

Not doing it for stats, just because it's fun to push a button and blow the crap out of people. That's why everyone wants to be president.

no what he's saying is that someone becomes cmdr and then jumps out of the position at the second his artillery rains down on the opposite side -- thus getting points as if he shot em with a handheld weapon
