LAN game with BOTS

ok, lets see if i can get this said right.
10 of us are in an office, connected to a LAN, but with no internet connection. What we are trying to do is hook up a game, so that all 10 of us can play, and have BOTS in the game also. Is this possible, and if so, how is it done.

1. Start a multiplayer game (settings don't matter).
2. Have your buddies find your multiplayer game in their local server browser.
3. DON'T have your buddies connect just have it selected.
4. Get out of the multiplayer game (make sure your buddies DOESN'T refresh their server browsers)
5. Start a singleplayer game with your choice of map.
6. Once loaded into the game, have you buddies connect using the selected mulitplayer game in their browser.
(#. You can also have your buddies connect through the "Connect to IP" button if you know your comps IP.)

..it's strange but it works. But I think you might be limited to 8 players on a team.
