Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I think this is a great post but I have a few questions/ comments.
I am relatively new to the game so I don't have a ton of experience with any of the flying platforms yet. I have had plenty of time flying both fighters and helos and prefer the mechanics of the helo. That being said, without a good fighter on our side, helos might as well not even take off. With parity on the fighter front, I enjoy flying very much.
I have been a gunner in a F18 and we racked up an alarming number of kills because the computer spots the targets for you. I don't have a top of the line system... ok, my system fell off the line. It's very difficult for me to pick out targets through the helo gunner's scope. There is nothing but your ability to pick out targets to help find the bad guys? The last time we were playing the wake island map and I spawned as a medic, pretty safe for me. There's a gunship spooling up on the carrier and the guy starts yelling for me to get in. We take off and head straight for land. We are high enough so I was looking through the scope, using the reticle to see if I could pick out any target when blamo... we get blindsided from behind. As I am falling to earth I can see clear as day at least 3 targets that I couldn't discern through the scope. Any hints to help? Or do I just stay the hell away from the gunner seat? I have fast reflexes when I can spot a target, but why didn't ea put thermal sights in their birds? A nice big heat plume would have made them much easier to spot.
Moral of this story? Any gunner is not always better than no gunner.
Could just be your viewing distance. As you were falling you got closer and were able to see more. I know one of the guys I fly with regularly has his res at 1900 - mine at 1024 - and he spots stuff way before I do.
I run into those flag capping pilots all the time. They don't even set me up for TV Guided shots. I have to take them on my own. After they realize I'm shooting down enemies without his help, depending on the pilot, they'll realize and start setting me up for shots or just continue on trying to cap flags full of enemies. They usually get the "Move It!", "Hit it!" and still not move out of harms way.
It's with those pilots that I've learned to take out tanks, choppers, personnel, and AA sites without the pilot even setting me up for it.
As a Pilot, always give your gunner the shot first, if he misses or starts using the machine gun, tilt the nose down and straff the target. I luv hunting AA vehicles and AA Sites, takes the heart out of the enemy, but as someone said, with out a good Jest fighter, were sitting ducks alot of times
the only thing I hate about those choppers aren't actualy the choppers but the pilots who don't fly good for the gunner, they drop there nose to much, fly like morons from one side to the other side, .....
A real good pilot fly's for his gunner, he has the most power, and when he misses you can take out with your misiles.
BUT , some gunners aren't just bad, they are just blind as hel
I'm a pretty good pilot, but I have to admit I love jumping in the gunner seat. What I hate is how some pilots fly around all crazy like, spinning and ****, I can never line up my sights on anything long enough to kill it. I've been with some fantastic pilots and though it doesn't happen often (that i find a great pilot) when it does I make sure I tell him/her that they rock.
good post dude.
Think I'll hook up my head set tonight after work. I bought one for this game but haven't tried it out. seems wierd talking to stranger while playing...what if I scream out like a little girl? jk
