After patching, huge lag spike in server browser and in game lag/choppiness. Plz help

I patched to 1.03 for the first time, and now I am getting what seems to me to be a latency issue, as opposed to a video or other performance problem. Basically, starting in the server browser I am getting astronomical pings. A screen shot of the LOWEST can be seen here (the lowest is around 150):





This is a new development, they used to hover around 50-60 for the lowest servers (and I'd ping 30 ingame).

When I join a multiplayer game, I am pinging 120+, and the game has unplayable choppiness. Here are the things I've tried thus far:

1. Uninstalled/reinstalled the game and re patched (twice). It does NOT work properly when I reinstall and play on version 1.0 so something is permenantly f-ed up.
2. Updated video drivers
3. cleared the cache in My Documents
4. manually updated PB drivers
5. Put all video settings on lowest levels
6. Disabled all firewalls/antivirus

Lastly, my specs:
P4 3.0GHZ, 1gb ram, ATI radeon X300 128mb video card (sux, but it used to run perfect on low video settings).

PLEASE help, I want to play really badly!

It the in-game browser. Its EA's futile attempt to stick with Gayspy.....er um Gamespy which has never worked for them to begin with. In all of the games they use it in, not one works correctly with the retail version, it always needs to be patched to work properly. Hopefully this will be resolved. For now you could try using BF2 Auto Loader. (Google it).
